The 2021 season was the 14th season for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They were one of the eight teams that competed in the 2021 IPL. [1] The franchise won the tournament in 2012 and 2014. [2] [3] The team was captained by Eoin Morgan with Brendon McCullum as the team coach. They finished their 2021 IPL campaign as runners-up.

The 2012 Indian Premier League season, abbreviated as IPL 5 or the IPL 2012 or the DLF IPL 2012, was the fifth season of the Indian Premier League, initiated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007 with the first season played in 2008. Gurkeerat Singh Mann is a former Indian professional cricketer who played for Punjab in domestic cricket. A right-handed batsman and off break bowler, he appeared for Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL and was a regular in the India A team. Singh had a maiden call for the official Indian squad for the South Africa series in 2015. He made his One Day International debut for India against Australia on 17 January 2016. On 10 November 2023 he announced retirement from all cricket.

The 2017 Indian Premier League season was the tenth edition of the Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in 2007. The tournament featured the eight teams that played in the previous season. The 2017 season started on 5 April 2017 and finished on 21 May 2017, with Hyderabad hosting the opening match and the final. The Kolkata Knight Riders-Royal Challengers Bangalore is a cricket rivalry between the IPL teams of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the defunct Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20). It is the oldest rivalry of the IPL and is often referred to as the El Primero of the Indian Premier League. Both teams have faced each other 32 times in the IPL and 1 time in CLT20, with the Kolkata Knight Riders having more victories (20). Kolkata Knight Riders have 3 IPL titles, while Royal Challengers Bangalore have none. The rivalry became more intense when, during the 2013 Indian Premier League faceoff between the two teams, Gautam Gambhir had a verbal spat with Virat Kohli when Kohli was sledged after being dismissed by Lakshmipathy Balaji. This incident increased the hype of the rivalry and is still constant despite the departure of Gambhir from the Knight Riders in 2018.
