This is a list of all personnel changes for the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL).

Pre-auction

The BCCI set the deadline of 20 January 2021 for the list of retained and released players for IPL franchise teams. [1] The trading window remained open till 11 February 2021 and was closed for one week, before being reopened on 19 February 2021. [2]

    Released players

    The released players were announced on 20 January 2021. [5] [6] Steve Smith, Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell were the prominent names among the released players. Piyush Chawla, the costliest Indian player at the 2020 auction, was also released.

    Retained players

    The retained players were announced on 20 January 2021. [7]

    1. Pant was retained at a salary of 8 crore (US$1.0 million) but as per the IPL rules, the actual purse deduction for the Delhi team was 15 crore (US$1.9 million).
    2. Narine was retained at a salary of 8.5 crore (US$1.1 million) but as per the IPL rules, the actual purse deduction for the Kolkata team was 12.5 crore (US$1.6 million).
    3. Russell was retained at a salary of 7 crore (US$880,000) but as per the IPL rules, the actual purse deduction for the Kolkata team was 8.5 crore (US$1.1 million).
    4. Warner was retained at a salary of 12 crore (US$1.5 million) but as per IPL rules, the actual purse deduction for the Hyderabad team was 12.5 crore (US$1.6 million).

    Auction

    The auction was conducted on 18 February 2021 in Chennai. [9] A total of 1097 players initially registered for the auction [10] of which 292 were selected for the auction, including 125 overseas players and three players from associate nations. [11]

    The 2020 Indian Premier League was the thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket (T20) league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2008. The tournament was originally scheduled to commence on 29 March 2020, but was suspended until 15 April due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Founded in 2008 as the Delhi Daredevils, the franchise is owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Group. The team's home ground is Arun Jaitley Stadium, located in New Delhi.

    The 2021 season was the 14th season for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). They were one of the eight teams that competed in the 2021 IPL. The franchise won the tournament in 2012 and 2014. The team was captained by Eoin Morgan with Brendon McCullum as the team coach. They finished their 2021 IPL campaign as runners-up.
