The 2023 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the thirty-ninth season of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, a stock car racing tour sanctioned by NASCAR. It began with the New Smyrna Beach Visitors Bureau 200 at New Smyrna Speedway on February 11 and ended with the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 200 at Martinsville Speedway on October 26.
Jon McKennedy entered the season as the defending series champion. McKennedy did not defend his title as the result of his race team folding partway through the season, which caused him to only run a part-time schedule. [1] Ron Silk won his second series championship in 2023, previously winning the 2011 championship. Silk became the seventh driver to win multiple championships in the series. [2]
On July 12, 2023, driver J. B. Fortin was suspended by NASCAR after he physically fought a NASCAR official after the race at Wall Stadium. [3] He was reinstated by NASCAR on September 15. [4]

South Boston Speedway, or "SoBo", is a short track located just outside South Boston, Virginia. SoBo is located approximately 60 miles (97 km) east of another area familiar to most NASCAR fans, Martinsville. It is owned by Mattco, Inc., the Mattioli family trust that owns Pocono Raceway, with general manager Brandon Brown operating the track, replacing Cathy Rice who retired in 2021 after serving in that role for 21 years and Chase Brashears who was in the role for two years. NASCAR's three national series have raced at the track, though the Cup Series has not done so since 1971, while the Busch Series last raced there in 2000. After the Busch Series left the schedule, the Craftsman Truck Series competed at SoBo for a few years between 2001 and 2003. The SRX Series visited the track in 2022.
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) is a modified stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR in the Modified Division. The Modified Division is NASCAR's oldest division, and is the only open-wheeled division that NASCAR sanctions. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events are mainly held in the northeastern United States, but the 2007 and 2008 tours expanded to the Midwest with the addition of a race in Mansfield, Ohio. The tour races primarily on short oval paved tracks, but the NWMT also has made appearances at larger ovals and road courses.
Robert Santos III is an American professional racing driver from Franklin, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2004 from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School. Santos, nicknamed "Bobby New England", is the grandson of Bobby Santos, a former modified racer. His sister, Erica Santos, is also a racecar driver. He is the cousin of former University of New Hampshire quarterback, and current head coach Ricky Santos.
Ryan Preece is an American professional stock car racing driver. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series, driving the No. 60 Ford Mustang Dark Horse for RFK Racing.
Patrick W. Emerling is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He competes full-time in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, driving the No. 1 Chevrolet for Rick Gautreau, as well as part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series driving for the No. 07 Ford Mustang for SS-Green Light Racing. Emerling's family has been long involved with car dealerships in the Buffalo area.
Monadnock Speedway is a paved one-quarter-mile (0.40 km) oval race track in Winchester, New Hampshire. Located south of Keene, the track is nestled between New Hampshire Route 10 and the Ashuelot River.
The 2020 ARCA Menards Series East was the 34th season of the ARCA Menards Series East, a regional stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR. It began on February 10 at New Smyrna Speedway with the Skip's Western Outfitters 175, and concluded on October 11 at Five Flags Speedway with the Pensacola 200. 2020 marked the first season the series was known as the ARCA Menards Series East, after it was known as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East for the previous ten years.
Andrew "Bubba" Pollard is an American stock car racing driver. He currently competes in super late model racing, driving the No. 26 Ford for his own team and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports, and the No. 26 Toyota Supra for Sam Hunt Racing. He is noted as one of the most successful active super late model drivers, winning the All American 400, Rattler 250, World Crown 300 and the 2014 Southern Super Series championship.

It was contested over 150 laps on the 0.25-mile (0.40 km) oval. It was the 6th race of the 2022 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Justin Bonsignore collected his second victory of the season with a late-race pass for the lead.
