The World Taekwondo Championship is held every two years by World Taekwondo. In addition to the kyorugi Championships, there are also Para World Championships as well as Poomsae and Para Poomsae Championships held every two years.

Ismaël Coulibaly is a Malian taekwondo practitioner who mainly fights in the lightweight division. İrem Yaman is a Turkish retired taekwondo athlete. He is a twice world champion, competing in the lightweight division, and an amateur kickboxer. In 2021, she retired from the taekwondo.
The World Taekwondo Grand Prix is a taekwondo competition introduced by the World Taekwondo Federation in 2013 to provide a homogeneous system for qualification to the Olympic taekwondo tournament. Ela Aydin is a German taekwondo athlete. Her greatest achievements are a bronze medal at the 2022 Grand Prix in Paris and all together six medals at European Championships.
The 2023 World Taekwondo Championships was the 26th edition of the World Taekwondo Championships and was held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 29 May to 4 June, 2023. This was the first time that Azerbaijan held the event.
