The 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup group stage was played in four groups of five teams. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Super 8 stage. [1] [2]
On 11 June 2024, Australia became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 after beating Namibia at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. [3] England took the second qualification spot from Group B by virtue of their higher run rate after Scotland's defeat against Australia on the last match of the Group B at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on 15 June 2024. [4] Australia and England progressed to their pre-seeded positions B2 and B1 respectively. [5]

Sir Vivian Richards Stadium is a stadium in North Sound, Saint George, Antigua and Barbuda. It was built for use in the 2007 Cricket World Cup where it hosted Super 8 matches. The stadium usually caters for 10,000 people, but temporary seating doubled its capacity for the 2007 World Cup. The stadium is named after former West Indies cricket captain Viv Richards.
The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 was the sixth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, a Twenty20 International cricket tournament that was held in India from 8 March to 3 April 2016, and was the first edition to be hosted by India.
The 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier, for the 2016 World Twenty20, was held from 6 to 26 July 2015. The tournament was hosted by both Ireland and Scotland. 51 matches were played among 14 nations, down from 72 matches among 16 nations previously. The tournament formed part of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier series, with the top six teams going forward to the qualifying round of the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the seventh edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20, a Twenty20 cricket tournament that took place from 17 October to 14 November 2021. The tournament was formally hosted by India, with matches played in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. It was scheduled to be hosted by Australia in 2020 but later postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Australia won their sixth and third consecutive title after beating the hosts South Africa in the final by 19 runs.
The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine the teams that would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the eighth edition of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, formerly known as the ICC World Twenty20. It was played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. In the final, England beat Pakistan by five wickets to win their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup title and draw level with the West Indies, who also won 2 ICC Men's T20 World Cup titles in both the 2012 and the 2016 edition. In winning the tournament, England also became the first team to simultaneously be the existing winners of the Cricket World Cup and the T20 World Cup. Sam Curran was named the player of the match and also the player of the tournament.
The 2019 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament that was held in August and September 2019 in Scotland. It was the fourth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and was the qualification tournament for the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament progressed to the 2020 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia. In June 2019, Cricket Scotland confirmed the tournament dates, format and venues. The full schedule was confirmed on 8 August 2019.

It was co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from 1 to 29 June 2024; the tournament was hosted by the West Indies for the second time, and it was also the first major ICC tournament to feature matches played in the United States.

Therefore, all the matches in the Global Qualifiers were Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

The eight teams were placed in two groups, with two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The two teams that reached the final of the Global Qualifier advanced to the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia.
