The 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships were held on 5 and 6 October 2024 in Flemish Brabant, Belgium. [1] It was third time the gravel world championships were held.

The Union Cycliste Internationale is the world governing body for sports cycling and oversees international competitive cycling events. The UCI is based in Aigle, Switzerland.
The UCI Road World Championships are the annual world championships for bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The UCI Road World Championships consist of events for road race and individual time trial, and as of 2019, a mixed team relay.
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA).
The UCI World Championships are annual competitions promoted by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to determine world champion cyclists. They are held in several different styles of racing, in a different country each year. Championship winners wear a white jersey with coloured bands around the chest for the following year. The similarity to the colours of a rainbow gives them the colloquial name of "the rainbow jersey." The first three individuals or teams in each championship win gold, silver and bronze medals. Former world champions are allowed to wear a trim to their collar and sleeves in the same pattern as the rainbow jersey.
Paul Voß is a German cyclist, who rides for German amateur team RSK Potsdam. Voß rode professionally between 2006 and 2016 for the Team Heinz Von Heiden, Team 3C Gruppe–Lamonta, Team Milram, Endura Racing and Bora–Argon 18 squads, taking two professional wins, and has also worked as a directeur sportif for UCI Continental teams WIGGINS and LKT Team Brandenburg.
Daniel Oss is an Italian cyclist, who competes in gravel cycling for the Specialized Gravel team.
Aaron Gate is a New Zealand road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI ProTeam Burgos BH. He represented his country in track cycling at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics. Gate is the first New Zealand athlete to win four gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games.
Matej Mohorič is a Slovenian professional road racing cyclist who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Bahrain Victorious. Mohorič turned professional in 2014. He won the Slovenian National Road Race Championships in 2018 and 2021, and the UCI Gravel World Championships in 2023.
Gianni Vermeersch is a Belgian professional cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam Alpecin–Deceuninck in road racing, cyclo-cross and gravel cycling. In 2022, Vermeersch became the inaugural winner of the men's race at the UCI Gravel World Championships.
James Oram is a New Zealand former cyclist, who competed as a professional from 2012 to 2023. His career took him from the American development team Bontrager–Livestrong, to British UCI continental team ONE Pro Cycling, before a year with Chinese Mitchelton–BikeExchange and finally riding for New Zealand Bolton Equities Black Spoke. He achieved one professional win in his career, the national road race championship in 2023.
Johan Jacobs is a Swiss road and cyclo-cross cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Movistar Team. He competed in the men's under-23 event at the 2016 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships.
Michaela Drummond is a New Zealand professional track and road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Continental Team Arkéa–B&B Hotels Women. She won bronze medals in the team pursuit at the 2017 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and 2019 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. At the 2023 UCI Track Cycling World Championships she won a silver medal in the team pursuit and a bronze medal in the scratch race.
The Gravel and Tar Classic is a one-day cycling race, held annually in the Manawatu region of New Zealand, since 2016, finishing in Palmerston North. It is rated 1.2 and has been part of UCI Oceania Tour since 2018. The race is primarily on sealed roads, however the highlight of the race is the multiple gravel sectors throughout the course. The race is now considered to be the toughest one-day elite race in the Oceania region. The race is held in January each year, making it one of the first races on the UCI Calendar, and a key chance for teams and riders to gain early UCI points. The event has seen teams enter from countries such as Sweden, Japan, the US, and Australia, along with the best New Zealand men's trade teams.
Alexys Brunel is a French cyclist, who currently rides for French amateur team Groove Gravel. Brunel retired on 22 June 2022 from professional cycling to focus on other aspects of life. However, he has since returned to racing as an amateur, notably winning a stage of the 2022 Tour de Guadeloupe.
