The 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup will be the 3rd edition of the AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup, the international futsal championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the women's national teams of Asia.[1] The tournament will be held between 6 and 17 May 2025.[2]
On 13 September 2024, the AFC Executive Committee ratified the AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Committee's decisions to award the hosting rights of the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup to the Chinese Football Association.[5]
The host country and the top two teams of the previous tournament in 2018 AFC Women's Futsal Championship qualified automatically, while the other nine teams will be decided by qualification matches to be played in January 2025.[3][6]
Qualified teams
The following twelve teams qualified for the tournament:
The draw was held on 6 February 2025 at the Juva Grand Hotel in Hohhot, China.[7][8]
The 12 teams were drawn into three groups of four teams, with seeding based on their FIFA Futsal World Ranking as of October 2024, which are shown in parentheses except for the team who is unranked, which are denoted by (–). As hosts, China were automatically seeded into pot 1.[8]
Each team was required to registered a squad with a minimum of 14 players and a maximum of 25 players, at least two of whom had to be goalkeepers (Regulations Article 23).[9]
Teams were ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss), and if tied on points, the following tiebreaking criteria were applied, in the order given, to determine the rankings (Regulations Article 7.3):[9]
Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
If more than two teams were tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams were still tied, all head-to-head criteria above were reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
Goal difference in all group matches;
Goals scored in all group matches;
Penalty shoot-out if only two teams were tied and they met in the last round of the group;
Disciplinary points (yellow card = 1 point, red card as a result of two yellow cards = 3 points, direct red card = 3 points, yellow card followed by direct red card = 4 points);
First match(es) will be played: May 2025. Source: AFC
Knockout stage
In the knockout stage, extra time and penalty shoot-out are used to decide the winner if necessary, except for the third place match where penalty shoot-out without extra time is used to decide the winner if necessary (Regulations Article 10).[9]
Qualified teams for the 2025 FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup
As the host nation, the Philippines have secured their place in the World Cup, regardless of their results in the Asian Cup.[10]
Should the Philippines advance to the semifinals, all other semifinalists will automatically qualify. However, if the Philippines do not reach the semifinals, then the top three teams—the winner, runner-up, and third-place finisher—will secure qualification for the 2025 FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.
