The Spain national futsal team represents Spain in international futsal competitions and is controlled by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. It is one of the strongest teams in the World, seven times champions in the UEFA Futsal Championship, and the two times consecutive champions of the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

Graeme Dell was employed by the Football Association's as England national futsal team coach and has been in that position since the FA started its futsal programme in 2003, when he led the first ever England futsal team in the UEFA Futsal Championships. Dell led England in 51 international futsal matches, including the 2006 UEFA Futsal Championship and the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup, before he stepped down on 25 March 2008.

The Brazil national futsal team represents Brazil in international futsal competitions. It is under the direction of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The team is considered to be the strongest in the world earning a record three straight championships in the FIFA Futsal World Cup. Brazil also holds a record eleven championship wins in the South American Futsal Championship also known as the Copa América de Futsal and five wins in the Taça América de Futsal. As of Semptember 2024, Brazil is ranked first in the Futsal World Rankings. Brazil has played in all 10 FIFA Futsal World Cups and has finished in the top three nine times, reaching the finals seven times and winning six titles, which includes the recent Futsal World Cup in 2024. The team has the best overall performance in the World Cup competition both in proportional and absolute terms. As of 2024, Brazil has a winning record against every nation they have faced in their history, winning over 89% of the matches and losing 5% of them.

The Morocco national futsal team, nicknamed Ousoud Al Atlas , represents Morocco in international futsal competitions. It is affiliated to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation and is one of the strongest teams in the world.

The Thailand national futsal team represents Thailand in international futsal competitions and is controlled by the Football Association of Thailand.

The Japan national beach soccer team represents Japan in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the JFA, the governing body for football in Japan. One of the leading Asian beach soccer teams, Japan's best performance at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was in the 2021 edition, when they were runners-up to the hosts Russia, which played as the Russian Football Union (RFU).

The Uzbekistan national futsal team is controlled by the Uzbekistan Football Federation, the governing body for futsal in Uzbekistan and represents the country in international futsal competitions, such as the World Cup and the AFC Futsal Championship.

European Universities Championships (EUC) are university sports competitions governed by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) since 2001. There are currently 23 sports in which the championships are organised. Participants in these events are European university teams and individuals.

The 2021 Summer World University Games (2021年夏季世界大学生运动会), officially known as the XXXI Summer World University Games and also known as Chengdu 2021, was a multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), held from 28 July to 8 August 2023 in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It was the fourth time the Games was hosted in China. This is the first time the Games was referred to as the "Summer World University Games" rather than the "Summer Universiade."

Izaquel Gomes Té, known as Zicky Té, is a Bissau-Guinean-born Portuguese futsal player who plays as a pivot for Sporting CP and the Portugal national team.

Rivalina Fuimaono is a New Zealand-Samoan footballer. She plays as a goalkeeper. She has represented New Zealand internationally at Futsal, and has been a member of the Samoa women's national football team.
