General elections were held in India from 19 April to 1 June 2024 in seven phases, to elect all 543 members of the Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 4 June to form the 18th Lok Sabha. On 7 June 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirmed the support of 293 MPs to Droupadi Murmu, the president of India. The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The election was postponed in Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, following the death of the MLA B. N. Vijaya Kumar and a voter fraud scandal respectively till 28 May. The election saw a voter turnout of 72.13 per cent, the highest in Karnataka since several decades. The counting of votes took place on 15 May 2018.

The 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election was held on 18 February for 59 of the state's 60 constituencies. The counting of votes took place on 3 March 2018. With 43.59% of the vote, the BJP secured a majority of seats (36) and subsequently formed the government with Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister. The former governing Left Front alliance while receiving 44.35% of the vote secured only 16 seats.

The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election was the 15th quinquennial legislative assembly election held in the Indian state of Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases, to elect 126 MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly. The votes were counted and the result declared on Sunday, 2 May. The term of the previous Fourteenth Legislative Assembly of Assam ended on 31 May 2021.

The 2018 Assam panchayat election were held in two phases, on 5 and 9 December 2018. The counting of votes started on 12 December and results were declared on 15 December. More than 15.6 million people were eligible to vote and voter turnout was over 78 per cent.

Municipal elections were held in the Indian state of Punjab on 14 February 2021; the result was declared on 17 February. The elections are scheduled for 117 urban local bodies, including 8 municipal corporations and 109 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Elections were originally scheduled to be held in October 2020, but were delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elections to local bodies in Kerala were held in December 2020. Polling took place over 3 days; on 8, 10 and 14 December, with the votes counted and results announced on 16 December.

Local elections were held in the Indian state of Tripura on 25 November 2021 to elect 222 of the 334 seats in one Municipal Corporation, 13 Municipal Councils and 6 Nagar Panchayats. The polls were hit with widespread violence and accusations of rigging. On polling day, the Supreme Court ordered the Ministry of Home Affairs to deploy two additional companies of Central paramilitary forces to ensure free and fair election in Tripura. A total of 785 candidates contested 222 seats and over 4.93 lakh electors were eligible to vote in this election.

Tripura State Election Commission is an autonomous and statutory body constituted in Indian state of Tripura for ensuring that elections in are conducted in free, fair and unbiased way. Constitution of India with provisions as per Article 243K and 243 ZA and Article 324 ensures creation and safeguarding of the powers of State Election Commissions. Tripura State Election Commission is responsible for conducting elections for Urban Local Bodies like Municipalities, Municipal Corporations, Panchayats and any other specified by Election Commission of India. Tripura State Election Commissioner is appointed by Governor of Tripura.

The 2025 Uttarakhand Municipal general elections were held on 23 January 2025 to elect members of 100 of the 102 regular municipalities in the state. Elections in Kichha and Narendranagar will be held later this year along panchayat elections. There are 11 Municipal Corporations, 45 Municipal Councils and 50 Nagar Panchayats in the state of Uttarakhand. Elections were conducted in all of the 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils, and 47 nagar panchayats.
