The Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council (TKAC), is an autonomous district council for the Thengal Kachari people in the state of Assam, India. [2]
The council was created in 2005 by Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council Act, which was passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly. [3]
The council has 26 members of whom 22 are directly elected and 4 are appointed by the Governor of Assam on behalf of the central Government of India. The council elects a Chief Executive Councillor who nominates an executive committee. [4]
At the most recent election, held in January 2022; the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 14 seats, the Indian National Congress won 4, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won 3 and one seat was won by an Independent. [5] The BJP went on to form a coalition executive with the AGP with Pratap Kachari as Chief Executive Councillor. [6]

Asom Gana Parishad is a political party in the state of Assam, India. The AGP was formed following the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13–14 October 1985 in Golaghat, which also allowed Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was the youngest chief minister of the state to be elected. The AGP has formed government twice from 1985 to 1989 and from 1996 to 2001.

Sarbananda Sonowal is an Indian politician of Bharatiya Janata Party from Assam who is serving as the current Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Cabinet Minister of AYUSH, Government of India and the member of the Rajya Sabha representing Assam since 2021 and also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs since 2021. He is the 14th Chief Minister of Assam from 2016 to 2021 and the former of Assam Legislative Assembly from Majuli from 2016 until he resigned in 2021 and from Moran constituency from 2001 to 2004. Sonowal earlier served as the Assam state unit President of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2012 to 2014 and again from 2015 to 2016. He has also served as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, from 2014 to 2016 and the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development from 2014 to 2014 and the member of the Lok Sabha from Lakhimpur from 2014 to 2016 and from Dibrugarh from 2004 to 2009. He was also the member of the Asom Gana Parishad from 2001 to 2011.
The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) is an autonomous council for the Chakma people living in the south-western part of Mizoram, India. It covers the Tuichawng (Chawngte) subdivision of Lawngtlai district. Its headquarters is at Kamalanagar. The Chakma people has been demanding to change the status of the Chakma Autonomous District Council into a Union territory under the name Chakmaland.

Jagadish Bhuyan is an Indian student leader and politician associated with the Assam Movement, who served two terms as an MLA of the Assam Legislative Assembly from the Sadiya legislative assembly constituency in Tinsukia district, and as tourism minister in the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta government from 1998 to 2001. Originally a leader in the Asom Gana Parishad, in June 2015 he abandoned the faltering AGP for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the chairman of Assam Petro-Chemicals until 2019.
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is an autonomous district council in the state of Assam, India for development and protection of tribals living in area namely Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district. The council is constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India and administratively functions under the Government of Assam. It was formed with the name Karbi Anglong District Council on 17 November 1951. Later changed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on 23 June 1952, which is now celebrated as its foundation day. After Signing of M.O.U. between Government of India, Government of Assam and United People's Democratic Solidarity, it was renamed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council. It has administrative functions over two district, Karbi Anglong district and West Karbi Anglong district. Its headquarters is in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. The total area of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is 10,434 sq. km having a population of 961,275 as of 2011.

The 2018 Assam panchayat election were held in two phases, on 5 and 9 December 2018. The counting of votes started on 12 December and results were declared on 15 December. More than 15.6 million people were eligible to vote and voter turnout was over 78 per cent.

Rekha Rani Das Boro is the current State Vice-President of BJP Assam Pradesh. She is the daughter of freedom fighter Biren Das Boro, who was also an MLA.

The ministry is headed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and consists of 16 cabinet ministers. The chief minister and 14 other ministers were sworn-in into office by Governor Jagdish Mukhi on 10 May 2021.
