Kamatapur Autonomous Council |
The Kamtapur Autonomous Council is an autonomous council in the Kamtapur region of the Indian state of Assam, for development and protection of ethnic Koch Rajbongshi people. [2] It was formed in 2020. [3] It includes the whole of the Undivided Goalpara district, excluding Bodoland Territorial Council and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council areas. [4]
The Kamatapur Autonomous Council Bill 2020 was tabled in Assam Legislative Assembly on 24 March 2020 by the BJP led NDA government and it was passed in September 2020. The bill received objections from Indian National Congress and AIUDF. [3]
The Kamatapur Autonomous Council consists of 30 members. 26 of these members are elected directly and 4 members are nominated by the Governor. [5]
In January 2021, the Assam State Government said it will constitute interim councils for Kamatpur Autonomous Council as elections to the autonomous council can't be done before the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election. [6] A 30 member interim council was appointed in February 2021. [7]
The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is an autonomous division in Assam, India, and a proposed state in Northeast India. It is made up of five districts on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is administered by an elected body known as the Bodoland Territorial Council which came into existence under the terms of a peace agreement signed in February 2003 and its autonomy was further extended by an agreement signed in January 2020. The region covers an area of over nine thousand square kilometres and is predominantly inhabited by the Bodo people and other indigenous communities of Assam.

Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is an autonomous district council in the state of Assam, India for development and protection of tribals living in area namely Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong district. The council is constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India and administratively functions under the Government of Assam. It was formed with the name Karbi Anglong District Council on 17 November 1951. Later changed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council on 23 June 1952, which is now celebrated as its foundation day. After Signing of M.O.U. between Government of India, Government of Assam and United People's Democratic Solidarity, it was renamed to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Territorial Council. It has administrative functions over two district, Karbi Anglong district and West Karbi Anglong district. Its headquarters is in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district. The total area of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is 10,434 sq. km having a population of 961,275 as of 2011.

The passage of Lokpal and Lokayukta's Act, 2013 in Parliament had become law from January 16, 2014, and requires each state to appoint its Lokayukta within a year. A bench of Lokayukta should consist of judicial and non-judicial members. An Upa-Lokayukta is a deputy to Lokayukta and assists him in his work and acts in-charge Lokayukta in case the position fells vacant before time.
