The 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards was held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas to honour the best musical releases within Latin music released from June 1, 2020, to May 31, 2021. [2] [3] The nominations were announced on September 28, 2021. [4] The ceremony was aired live on TelevisaUnivision.

In June 2021, Panamanian musician Rubén Blades was named Person of the Year by the Latin Recording Academy, unlike last year where the main ceremony took place in a normal way but the Person of the Year award was not given nor did the ceremony for the award took place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's ceremony for the award took place on November 17, 2021, the day before the main ceremony as it usually does. [5]

Singers and musicians Martinho da Vila, Emmanuel, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E., Fito Páez, Milly Quezada, Joaquín Sabina and Gilberto Santa Rosa received the Lifetime Achievement Award while Mexican producer Guillermo "Memo" Acosta and Colombian accordionist Egidio Cuadrado are this year's recipients of the Trustees Award. The Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album is an award presented at the Grammy Awards, a ceremony that was established in 1958 and originally called the Gramophone Awards, to recording artists for releasing albums in the Latin pop genre. Due to the increasing musical changes in the industry, from 2012 the category includes 10 nominees, according to a restructuration made by the academy for the four general categories: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist and Album of the Year.Beginning in 2018, songwriters are eligible for the accolade if 33% of the playing time are composed by them.

Natalia "Nathy" Peluso is an Argentine and Spanish singer. Born in Argentina and raised in Spain, Peluso became interested in the performing arts at an early age, performing cover songs at musical bars in her teenage years. After graduating King Juan Carlos University, Peluso relocated to Barcelona to pursue a professional career in music, with her first releases Esmeralda (2017) and La Sandunguera (2018) being confected independently. Peluso slowly started to become recognized in Spain. The ceremony recognized the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, which ran from January 1, 2020 to January 31, 2020. The nominations were announced on May 7, 2021. Rafael “Rafa” Arcaute, is an Argentine songwriter, record producer and recording engineer. He has worked with several Latin American artists including Luis Alberto Spinetta, Shakira, C Tangana, Nathy Peluso, Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas, Calle 13, Christina Aguilera, Babasónicos and Andrés Calamaro. He has received eighteen Latin Grammy Awards, including two wins for Producer of the Year, and he has also won two American Grammys.
