ARTV, also known as Canal Parlamento, is a Portuguese legislature television station that broadcast events from the Assembly of the Republic.

History

The channel launched in 1998 as Canal Parlamento, before renaming to its current name in September 2002, with Canal Parlamento being only a subtitle in the channel's logo.

Terrestrial trials were conducted on December 27, 2012 and regular transmission on January 3, 2013, in order to bring its coverage more "universal and democratic". The channel runs as a limited service. [1] [2]

Digital terrestrial television in Portugal launched on 29 April 2009 with 7 free-to-air (FTA) channels. In the Azores and Madeira Islands, regional channels are available. By June 2010 TDT coverage reached 83% of the population and was expected to reach 100% by the end of 2010. The analog to digial conversion finished on 26 April 2012. The four existing analog FTA channels simulcasted in DVB-T, MPEG-4/H.264 (digital), and PAL (analog).

Benfica TV (BTV) is a Portuguese sports-oriented premium cable and satellite television channel operated by sports club S.L. Benfica. Its headquarters are located at the Estádio da Luz, having a second studio at Benfica Campus. Its first broadcast was on 2 October 2008, and regular transmissions began on 10 December. The channel was originally made available for free on all of its cable operators until June 2013.
