The African Junior Judo Championships are the highest level of African judo competition for juniors, 21 years of age or less. The championships are held every year by the African Judo Union, and qualified judoka compete in their respective categories as representatives of their countries. The first edition was held in Tunis, Tunisia in 2000.

Soumiya Iraoui is a Moroccan judoka. Iraoui is a silver medalist from the 2019 African Games and a six-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the African Judo Championships. Iraoui also represented Morocco at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Nihel Bouchoucha is a Tunisian judoka. She is a two-time medalist at the African Games. She is also a three-time gold medalist at the African Judo Championships.

Aziza Chakir is a Moroccan judoka. She is a bronze medalist at the African Games and a four-time medalist at the African Judo Championships. She is also a bronze medalist at the Jeux de la Francophonie.

Monica Sagna is a Senegalese judoka. She is a three-time medalist, including gold, at the African Games. She has also won numerous medals at the African Judo Championships.

Mohamed Ali Gouaned is an Algerian middle-distance runner specializing in the 400 meters and 800 meters. He holds the Junior World best in 600 meters with a time of 1:14:79 set in Algiers on 26 March 2021 breaking the record held by Wilfred Bungei since 1 September 1999 with a time of 1:14:94.

The European Junior Judo Championships are annual judo competitions organized by the European Judo Union for European judoka aged 21 and younger.

The African Judo Union (AJU) is the governing body of judo in Africa. It is one of the five continental confederations making up the International Judo Federation (IJF). AJU was formed on 28 November 1961 in Dakar (Senegal). AJU has headquarters in Madagascar and consists of 54 member federations.

Boubekeur Rebahi is an Algerian, male Judo player, who played in both local and international championships. He played in Tunisia, Oran, Morocco and Belgium. He weighs 66 kg. It should be remembered that Algeria was tagged the most successful nation for African Judo Championships in 2022. Prior to that in 2021, Algerian Judo player named Fethi Nourine was banned for 10 years from competition by the International Judo Federation with his coach, Amar Benikhlef receiving 10 years ban, as well when they withdrew from facing an Israeli opponent in the second round of men's competition at the Boudakan. The duo revealed that they pulled out from the competition in support for the Palestinians.

The first edition was helds in Gaborone, Botswana on 2012.
