Alderman Blaxill School was a secondary school with academy status in Colchester, Essex, and was the town's smallest secondary school. It closed in 2014.
Alderman Blaxill Secondary Modern School in Walnut Tree Way, Colchester, was opened in 1955. It replaced the former Hamilton Road Central School (built in 1914, but used as a military hospital during World War I,not opening as a school until 1920. Following the Education Act 1944, it became a secondary modern school. In 1955, the secondary part of the school moved to the new building in Walnut Tree Way, Shrub End, and was renamed Alderman Blaxill after a former Mayor of Colchester and chairman of the education committee. The Hamilton Road building was used for infants and juniors. In 1976, Alderman Blaxill became a comprehensive school. [1] It became an academy in 2012, and closed in 2014. The majority of the students transferred to The Stanway School and Thomas Lord Audley School, with which Alderman Blaxill was federated.
Following the closure of the school in July 2014, the buildings were maintained for temporary use by children from the Market Field School in Elmstead Market, which was being rebuilt at the time. [2] Demolition of the school commenced in October 2017. [3]

Colchester County High School for Girls is a selective girls' grammar school with academy status in Colchester, Essex. The school consistently scores highly in the league tables for the UK. Entrance to Year 7 is by an academic selection test, the Eleven Plus. Entrance into Year 12 is by GCSE grades, although priority is given to pre-existing pupils.

Philip Morant School and College is a secondary school and sixth form with academy status located within the Prettygate suburb of Colchester, Essex. The school is named after Philip Morant, a local 18th-century historian and archaeologist who was chosen as the school's eponym a few months after its achieving technology college status in 1994. In November 2011 the school became an academy. After Sue Cowan's retirement, Roger Abo Henrikson became Headteacher for two academic years. During the school's 50th year, Rob James was appointed Acting Headteacher and is largely credited for returning the school to a 'good' OfSTED rating, which took place two terms after Catherine Hutley's appointment as Executive Headteacer. Philip Morant School joined the Sigma Trust in 2018, moving from the then defunct Thrive Partnership, which it co-founded.

The Gateway Academy, formerly The Gateway Community College, is a coeducational academy secondary school in Grays, Essex, England. It became an academy in 2006 under the sponsorship of the Ormiston Trust after Thurrock Council was unable to find the resources to provide a new building. It was previously a successful fresh start school which was created from two failing secondary schools; Torells School in Grays and St Chad's School in Tilbury. It is currently a part of The Gateway Learning Community (GLC) but has retained its Ormiston sponsorship.
Thomas Lord Audley School is a mixed 11–16 secondary school with academy status for 800 pupils, to the south of Colchester, Essex. It serves a wide catchment area, taking students from the edge of Colchester, small villages and the community of Mersea Island. The school building is modern, with single, double and three-storey accommodation with hard play areas and a playing field. There are six science laboratories and six technology Suites. The PE facilities include a sports hall, fitness suite and gym. As of 2009, the school also has new drama and music facilities and a new suite of modern language rooms.
