Etymology

The name Algibacter derives from:
Latin feminine gender noun alga , seaweed; Neo-Latin masculine gender noun, a rod bacter , nominally meaning "a rod", but in effect meaning a bacterium, rod; Neo-Latin masculine gender noun Algibacter, rod isolated from seaweed. [2]
