Alize Lily Mounter (born 29 September 1988) is a Welsh model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss England in 2011. She represented England at the 61st Miss World in London, [1] where she made the Top 7 and was ranked 4th place overall. She received the titles of Miss World Europe, Miss United Kingdom and Miss World Beach Beauty. [1] Later she represented the United Kingdom at Miss International on 21 October 2012 in Okinawa, Japan.

Early life and education

Mounter was born in Church Village, South Wales, to a Welsh father and Hungarian mother. [2]

Mounter moved to London after appearing as a finalist on Britain's Next Top Model. [3] She then went on for further education and studied for a BA degree in Journalism and Drama at Roehampton University. [4]

Pageantry

Miss England

At the Miss England 2011, she represented Every Model magazine [5] and won the title. She is the second Miss England winner of non-English heritage. She gained considerable media attention for being a Welsh, Miss England winner. She was allowed to participate in Miss England because she had been living in Kensington, London for several years before the competition. [6]

During her time as Miss England she travelled to various countries promoting Miss England pageant. These countries included; France, Thailand, Mauritius, Mexico, Dubai, Gibraltar and Egypt. After her visit to Mauritius the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority then became the official sponsor of Miss England 2012. [3] Mounter raised over £5,000 for Beauty with a Purpose and Help the Heroes and listed green issues as being very important in her life. [7]

Mounter has also been the judge at several pageant shows including Miss Hampshire 2011 [8] and Miss England Beach Beauty 2012. [9]

Miss World

At Miss World 2011, she was awarded the winner of the Miss World Beach Beauty competition. She made the Top 7 (and was ranked 4th place overall) in the competition. She came 4th runner up in the Top Model round, and top 20 in Beauty with a Purpose.[ citation needed ] Mounter also received the Continental Queen of Beauty title as Miss World Europe for the highest ranked contestant in the European region. In May 2012 Alize was invited by the Miss World chairman Julia Morley to accompany the organisation to Africa. They visited Ghana and Kenya to help promote Beauty with a Purpose humanitarian projects. [11] [12] She travelled with Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos of Venezuela, second runner up Amanda Vilanova of Puerto Rico and Mandla Mandela. On 3 June 2012 she was invited by the Miss World organisation to take part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant of Queen Elizabeth II in London.

Miss European is a beauty pageant of between 95 and 100 contestants aged 16 to 30 from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Wales, Ireland, Malta and in 2011 both Scotland and Portugal joined the contest. The pageant was founded by Claude Pasbbecq in France in 1996 as Miss International. It changed its name to Miss Euroregion in 1999 and became Miss European in 2006. In 2013 Georgia joined making it one of the biggest beauty pageants in the world. The contest involves 3 rounds where contestants take part in Clubwear, Swimwear and an Evening Dress round. There is also a Team Dance which must include all team members. This is judged separately. This part of the contest has become increasingly popular.

Claire Louise Evans is a former Welsh beauty pageant titleholder, Miss Wales 2005.

Miss International 2012, the 52nd Miss International pageant, was held on October 21, 2012 at Okinawa Prefectural Budokan Arena Building in Okinawa, Japan. Fernanda Cornejo from Ecuador crowned her successor Ikumi Yoshimatsu from Japan at the end of the event.

Ameeksha Dilchand; is a Mauritian Beauty Pageant winner and former Miss Mauritius. Ameeksha attended the Notre Dame de la Confiance RCA school for her primary education then joined the Loreto College of Rose-Hill for her secondary studies. Ameeksha completed her LLB(hons) from University College London (UCL).

Miss World 2013, the 63rd edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 28 September 2013 at Bali International Convention Center, South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. It was the first time in Southeast Asia and it also was the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in a Muslim majority country. Contestants from 127 countries and territories competed in this year's Miss World pageant, marking the biggest turnout for any beauty pageant globally as of 2023. Yu Wenxia of China crowned her successor Megan Young of the Philippines at the end of the event, marking the only time to date that the Philippines has won the Miss World title. Diya Beeltah is a Mauritian/Indian model who was crowned Miss Mauritius 2012. Beeltah was born on 8 August 1988 in Quatre Bornes, Mauritius. Beeltah attended the Baichoo Madhoo Government school and completed her bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Mauritius. She was pursuing her bachelor while making her breakthrough in modeling.

Miss Mauritius is a national beauty pageant held in Mauritius that selects representatives for Miss World and Miss International, two of the Big Four international beauty pageants.
