Bokang Montjane (born 5 May 1986 in Transvaal) is a South African model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2010, becoming the official representative of her country to the Miss Universe 2011 and Miss World 2011 pageants. She also participated in Miss International 2009 and placed in the Top 16 at Miss Earth 2007, finished as one of the Top 7 finalists and named Miss World Africa at Miss World 2011.

Early life

Montjane was born and raised in the village of Ga-Mphahlele in Northern Province (now Limpopo). [1] Prior to competing in Miss South Africa, Montjane participated in Miss Earth 2007 held in Quezon City, where she obtained the Beauty for a Cause award and placed as one of the Top 16 semifinalists of the competition. [2] Two years later, she competed in Miss International 2009, in Chengdu, China. [3]

Miss South Africa

Montjane, who stands 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in) tall, competed as one of 12 finalists in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss South Africa, [4] held in Sun City on 12 December 2010, where she became the eventual winner of the title, gaining the right to represent South Africa in Miss Universe 2011 and Miss World 2011. [5] She was the second African woman to compete in all Big Four pageants, after Cynthia Kanema of Zambia.

Montjane spoke to young people at the YCAP Nationals in 2019 to encourage them to engage and help within their own communities. She said: "You need to understand that when the time comes and you're in a position to make a difference, it's not about you. You are blessed to be a blessing. You guys are here, because you have answers to the problems that are taking place in your communities for a reason: because you're able and you're capable."

Miss Earth 2007 7th Miss Earth pageant

Miss Earth 2007, the 7th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 12, 2007 at the University of the Philippines Theater, inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. 30 delegates also visited Nha Trang, Vietnam. 88 delegates competed for the title, making 2007 the largest edition of delegates for Miss Earth. The pageant was hosted by MTV Asia VJ Greg Uttsada Panichkul, Priscilla Meirelles and Ginger Conejero. Hil Hernández from Chile crowned her successor Jessica Trisko from Canada the end of the event.

Puteri Indonesia Annual national beauty pageant competition in Indonesia

Puteri Indonesia is a national beauty pageant in Indonesia that selects the winners to represent the country in two of the Big Four major international beauty pageants; namely Miss Universe and Miss International. The pageant also selects representative for Miss Supranational pageant. Puteri Indonesia is traditionally held in March, alongside the celebration of International Women's Day.

Beauty for a Cause is the slogan of the Miss Earth beauty pageant adopted since the pageant's inception in 2001. It empowers the contestants to work with an environmental advocacy that is personally significant to them. The first Beauty for a Cause prize was awarded in 2003.

Miss South Africa is a national beauty pageant in South Africa that selects South African representatives to compete in two of the Big Four international beauty pageants, Miss World and Miss Universe, and also selects another representative to participate in minor international pageant Miss Supranational. The 14th Nuestra Belleza México pageant, was held at the Auditorio "Profr. Manuel Bonilla Valle" of Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico on October 6, 2007. Tatum Keshwar is a South African fashion model, psychologist and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2008. She represented South Africa at Miss Universe 2009 and placed in the top 10. Keshwar also represented South Africa at Miss World 2009 and placed second runner-up.

Miss Earth Thailand is a national title given to a Thai woman to represent Thailand at the Miss Earth pageant, an annual international major beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility.

Miss Honduras is a national beauty pageant in Honduras.

Miss Earth South Africa is a beauty pageant in South Africa that began in 2001. The winner of the pageant represents her country at Miss Earth pageant.

Miss South Africa 2019 Beauty pageant edition

Miss South Africa 2019 was the 61st edition of the Miss South Africa pageant. It was held on 9 August 2019 at Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, Gauteng. Tamaryn Green of Western Cape crowned her successor Zozibini Tunzi of Eastern Cape at the end of the event. Tunzi represented South Africa in Miss Universe 2019 and was crowned Miss Universe while 1st Runner-Up Sasha-Lee Olivier represented the country in Miss World 2019. Olivier assumed the title of Miss South Africa 2019 due to Tunzi winning the Miss Universe title.

Miss South Africa 2020 was the 62nd edition of the Miss South Africa pageant. The final pageant was held on 24 October 2020 in The Table Bay Hotel, Cape Town, with a 2-hour live broadcast being simulcast on M-Net and Mzansi Magic. The pageant was also televised live on YouTube to audiences around the world.

Shudufhadzo Musida is a South African model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss South Africa 2020. She is the second title holder from the province of Limpopo - the first being Bokang Montjane. She is the first title holder whose first language is Venda, and was selected to represent South Africa in Miss World 2021. Musida is the first bald woman to win Miss South Africa. She is a dedicated advocate and spokeswoman for mental health awareness and empowering women and children.

Miss South Africa 2021 was the 63rd edition of the Miss South Africa pageant. It was held on 16 October 2021 at the Grand West Arena, Cape Town. Shudufhadzo Musida crowned Lalela Mswane as her successor at the end of the event. She went on to represent South Africa at Miss Universe 2021 and Miss Supranational 2022. She finished as second-runner up at Miss Universe 2021 and later crowned as Miss Supranational 2022.
