Allai District is a district in the Hazara Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
On 22 January 2023, the government announced the establishment of Allai district. It was separated from Battagram District.
The Allai district covers an area of 521 sq km and has a population of 180,414 according to the 2017 census. It consists of eight union councils including Banna, Batila, Batkul, Biari, Jumbera, Pashto, Rushing and Shakargah. Allai was previously a tehsil within the Battagram District of the Hazara division. Allai was formerly a state ruled by Nawabs of Allai. Nawab Muhammad Ayub Khan was the last Nawab of Allai State until 1971. This state had its own currency. Arsala Khan Swati was the most powerful ruler among the Nawabs of Allai as he is famous for his great resistance against British rule. Arsala Khan was also the Chief of Independent Swatis who defended Yaghistan with the support of Panjghol Swatis, Panjmeral Swatis, Arghushal Swati Khans of Thakot and Khankhail Swatis of Hill and Banser. [4] Nawabs of Allai belong to the Bebal subsection of Gabri Swatis. Pokal was the capital of state.

However the status of state has been abolished. Akbar Namoos Khan, elder son of Nawab Ayub Khan Swati was the Chief of Allai Valley till 30 November, 2024, succeeded by his younger brother Prince Nawaz Khan Swati on 1 December, 2024. [6]
Majority of population of Allai belongs to different clans of Swati tribe same like the neighboring Battagram District and Mansehra District. Swatis own majority of lands in these three districts. The main language spoken in the district is Pashto.

After the demise of Jan Muhammad Khan Arghushal, his son Yaqoob Khan Arghushal Swati became the "11th Khan of Paimal Sharif" while his elder son Aurangzeb Khan Arghushal Swati (Late) became "11th Khan of Thakot".
Battagram Tehsil is an administrative subdivision (Tehsil) of the Battagram District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It serves as the Tehsil headquarters and covers a total area of 300 square miles (780 km2). Battagram Tehsil merged into Pakistan as an administrative region before being raised to the status of a district in 1993. On October 8, 2005, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Kashmir badly affected the area.

The M-15 Motorway, also known as the Hazara Motorway, is a 180-kilometer controlled-access motorway in Pakistan. It links the Burhan Interchange near Hasan Abdal in the Punjab province with Haripur, Havelian, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Shinkiari, Battagram, and Thakot in the Hazara Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Prince Zubair KhanSwati is a Pakistani politician who is a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the second time. He is grandson of Nawab Ayub Khan Swati, the last Nawab of Allai tribal territory and four times elected member of National Assembly of Pakistan. His father Fateh Muhammad Khan Swati had been member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the 5 consecutive terms. His uncle Prince Nawaz Khan Swati is also the current MNA of NA-13 Battagram.
Abaseen or Abasin Division is a proposed division in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, compromising seven districts: Battagram, Allai, Kolai-Palas, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Shangla, and Torghar. He had been member of East Pakistan Provincial Assembly from Mansehra District. He also served as Minister of Health of West Pakistan. He was previous Khan Of Bhogarmang Valley. Khudadad Colony in front of Mazar E Quaid is named after him. He belonged to Jehangiri family of Swati tribe.
Muhammad Nawaz Khan Swati is a current royal Chief of Allai, Pakistani politician and current member of the National Assembly of Pakistan, since 2024 representing NA-13 Battagram. Previously he was a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to 2013 and 2018 to 2023. He is the son of famous Nawab of Allai State, Ayub Khan Allai from Swati tribe. Prince reelected in 2024 election as pti candidate from NA 13 Battagram and defeated Qari Muhammad Yousaf of JUI.

According to his family members, Chief of Allai Akbar Namoos Khan, known as "Aka Jan", Nawab of Allai" breathed his last on Saturday as he had been suffering from cardiac arrest and undergoing treatment. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves throughout the community, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable achievements and a void that can never be filled.
