Always is the first Korean EP by South Korean boy band Big Bang, released under YG Entertainment on August 16, 2007. [1] Commercially, the album recorded pre-orders of 30,000 copies [2] and sold over 55,000 copies by the end of October 2007. [3]
Always (2007) marked a change of BigBang's musical styles from their previous efforts, with the group experimenting with electronic dance music and setting it as the new music trend in Korea. [4] It was also the first release in Korean's music industry to be promoted as a "mini-album".
The lead single "Lies" (거짓말;Geojitmal), composed by G-Dragon, was a no.1 hit, topping Cyworld charts for two months in a row, [5] eventually becoming their break-out hit and Song of the Year in the 2007 Mnet Asian Music Awards. [6] [7] [8] "Lies" was named the "Song of the Decade" by Mnet's M! Countdown. [9] On 2016, it was labeled the "Top Male Idol Song in The Best 20 Years" by music experts. [10] The song was revealed to be the second most downloaded in the past nine years in South Korea. [11]
Billboard stated that "Lies" placed BigBang "down the path into the realm of avant-garde experimentalism that they’ve become known for over the past few years" [12] and called one of South Korea's "most memorable songs." [13] The impact of the song was described by Kang Myung Suk - a music critic and former editor-in-chief of 10Asia magazine. Suk wrote "in that time, the one song ‘Lies’ satisfied all the music consumers in Korea. The ‘sound’ of this song was better than the normal kpop, and the melody development was easy for anyone to enjoy. Before ‘Lies’ came out, the music charts were dominated by medium tempo ballad songs." The composition was also praised, noting that "G-Dragon made this song with memorable rap and melody pieces" and admired the song for having "no useless parts". The critic concluded "‘Lies’ has the generation's code who wants to be a step forward in the trend but comfortable at the same time, and that wants to stand out but also somewhat mix in at the same time. This was a market that not exist before Bigbang's ‘Lies, and this was the moment where the idols met this generation’s emotions." [14]

H.O.T. is a South Korean boy band that was created by SM Entertainment in 1996. They are considered to be the first K-pop idol group and their successful formula became the model for many K-pop groups that followed them. The group consisted of five members: Moon Hee-joon, Jang Woo-hyuk, Tony Ahn, Kangta, and Lee Jae-won.

Hot is the debut extended play (EP) by South Korean singer Taeyang, a member of boy group Big Bang under YG Entertainment. It was released through YG Entertainment on May 22, 2008, as Taeyang's debut as a solo artist. Two singles were spawned from the EP—"Only Look at Me" featuring Teddy Park and "Prayer". It was the best-selling album of May 2008 with it being ranked at number 1 on the MIAK monthly album chart. Hot was well received by music critics, with the record winning two Korean Music Awards as well as Soribada naming it one of the best albums of the 2000s decade.
"Lollipop" is a song by Big Bang and 2NE1, created to promote a cellphone by LG Cyon. It interpolates the 1958 hit "Lollipop" written by Julius Dixson and Beverly Ross. The song achieved the top spot on various online charts, including a four week run at number one on music portal Mnet. "Lollipop" was used to debut 2NE1 unofficially, as it does not serve as their debut single. 2NE1 followed up with their official debut single "Fire".
Dong Young-bae, better known by his stage name Taeyang or SOL, is a South Korean singer. He made his debut in 2006 as a member of the South Korean boy band BigBang.
