The American Premier League (APL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league based in the United States. [1] The first league was scheduled to take place between 6 October and 24 October 2009, which was later postponed. [2] The management revamped the brand in 2020 and went through the official launch during the spring of 2021. The teams were named after cricket spectators spread across the United States (Indians, Paks, Windies, and Afghans, Aussies, Canadians, and Americans). [3]
Merit Sports Group (MSG) In November 2024 Jay Mir owner of American Sports and Entertainment Group sold the American Premier League to Merit Sports Group (MSG), a U.S. based sports company for an investment of one hundred million USD over the next ten years which will include running professional men's and women's T20 and T10 tournaments, building a world class sports facility in New York and creating a network of American Premier League branded cricket academies across United States
In 2009 APL announced an imminent three-year deal with minor league club the Staten Island Yankees who own the venue. The league had planned to play twice a year at baseball's Richmond County Bank Ballpark. Besides renowned staff and players, six teams were expected to take part in the first event: Premium Pakistan, Premium India, Premium Bengal, Premium West Indies, Premium World and Premium America, but the event did not materialise. In 2009 the ICC announced support for the creation of a Twenty20 cricket competition in the US to compete against the APL, and in December 2010 the board of the United States of America Cricket Association that it had signed a $10 million deal with New Zealand Cricket and other investors as stakeholders, creating a new body called Cricket Holdings America to manage all commercial rights for cricket in USA, including Twenty20 rights, in perpetuity. No American Premier League matches were played in 2010. In 2011 no further matches were announced and the venture appeared defunct.
The American Premier League established contact with the USA Cricket Association, but had not submitted a formal approval. [7] In 2009 the International Cricket Council (ICC) halt national players to participate until further release instructions and approval. [8]
American Premier League's Inaugural season was initially scheduled for spring of 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 15 February 2021, the CEO of APL Jay Mir signed an exclusive multi-year contract with the Minor League Baseball team New Jersey Jackals. [9] This contract was to host the American Premiere League at the Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey. On 15 March 2021, the American Premiere League was officially launched at a dinner party in Montclair, New Jersey. Following the announcement, the American Premiere League sold all seven teams to various entrepreneurs. [10] [11] [12] [13]
Each team faces every other team once in the round games. The top four teams advance to the semifinals. The two winners face each other off in the finals. The inaugural season of the American Premier League had total prizes worth $200,000. [14] [15]
On 13 September 2021, the American Premier League's inaugural tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony. The tournament started on 20 September with three back-to-back matches every day. [16]
Premium Afghans emerged champions of American Premier League 2023 as they beat Premium Indians in the final of the tournament (1st January) at Moosa Stadium in Texas.
The 2nd edition of the American Premier League was held In Moosa Stadium in Texas.The tournament started on December 19th with first editions Champions Windees challenged The Americans. The second season of the American Premier League brought the cricket craze to the America. Many International and Local stars drafted for the tournament.

Lawrence Peter "Yogi" Berra was an American professional baseball catcher who later took on the roles of manager and coach. He played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), all but the last for the New York Yankees. He was an 18-time All-Star and won 10 World Series championships as a player—more than any other player in MLB history. Berra had a career batting average of .285, while hitting 358 home runs and 1,430 runs batted in. He is one of only six players to win the American League Most Valuable Player Award three times. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest catchers in baseball history and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.

Yogi Berra Stadium is a baseball stadium in Little Falls, New Jersey, on the campus of Montclair State University. The stadium is home to the Montclair State Red Hawks baseball team, which competes in NCAA Division III; the NJIT Highlanders baseball team which competes in NCAA Division I; and the Yogi Berra Museum and Learning Center, which adjoins the stadium on its first base side. It was formerly home to the New Jersey Jackals of the independent Frontier League from 1998 to 2022 and the part-time home of the NY/NJ Comets of National Pro Fastpitch in 2013. In 2001, the stadium was the home field of the New Jersey Pride of Major League Lacrosse in their inaugural season.

Shanthakumaran Nair Sreesanth is an Indian former cricketer and film actor who played all formats of the game for his country. He is a right-arm fast-medium-pace bowler and a right-handed tail-ender batsman. In first class cricket, he played for Kerala. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) he played for the Rajasthan Royals. He became the first Kerala Ranji player to play Twenty20 cricket for India. Sreesanth was initially banned for life after spot-fixing in the 2013 IPL, however, the ban was reduced to seven years in August 2019. In 2018, he participated in the popular reality show, Bigg Boss and became the runner up. In 2020 he was selected for the Kerala cricket team and resumed his career in national cricket. In March 2022, Sreesanth announced his retirement from domestic cricket. Sreesanth was a member of the Indian team that won both the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 Cricket World Cup, where in the 2007 final, he took the winning catch.

Grand Prairie Stadium is a cricket ground and former ballpark in Grand Prairie, Texas. Opened in May 2008, it served as the home stadium of the Texas AirHogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball from 2008 through 2019, and of the USL League Two soccer team Texas United from 2017 to 2019.
Sohail Tanvir is a Pakistani former cricketer, who has gained considerable international repute for his unorthodox left arm bowling action and particularly for the success it has gained him in the Twenty20 format of the game. He was a member of the Pakistan team that won the 2009 ICC World Twenty20. Tanvir was the first 'purple cap' winner in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League and his best figures were 6 for 14 playing for the Rajasthan Royals. This bowling record lasted for over a decade in the IPL. His figures in the Caribbean Premier League for the Guyana Amazon Warriors against Barbados are some of the most impressive of all time. Other notable mentions in the Caribbean Premier League include an 18 ball 50 playing for the St Lucia Zouks at the Daren Sammy Stadium including smashing three consecutive sixes against Kieron Pollard. Tanvir continues to play in franchise leagues across the globe as one of the most prolific bowling all-rounders in world cricket with economical bowling figures and an impressive strike rate. Sohail Tanvir will be representing the Multan Sultans when the PSL resumes for the finals of the series in November 2020 after the team ended the league stage on top of the table. He is currently enrolled in the USA Open draft for the upcoming edition of the tournament running from 16 to 20 December 2020. In a 2020 interview, Tanvir described his 2007 Test debut wicket of Rahul Dravid in Delhi as the 'ball of his life' when the ball pitched outside leg stump and shattered 'the wall's off-stump in an unplayable manner.
The history of cricket in Pakistan predates the creation of the country in 1947. The first international cricket match in what is now Pakistan today was held in Karachi on 22 November 1935 between Sindh and Australia. The match was seen by 5,000 Karachiites. Cricket was introduced by the British during their colonial rule of British India, which covered the area now known as Pakistan. Cricket is the most popular sport in the country. The Pakistan Cricket Board controls all domestic cricket in Pakistan and the national teams. Pakistan is an official member of the International Cricket Council and the Asian Cricket Council. Regarded as one of the best and most passionate cricketing nations, Pakistan has won the Cricket World Cup in 1992, ICC T20 World Cup in 2009, the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in 2004 and 2006, the ACC Asia Cup in 2000 and 2012. Pakistan were runner ups in the 1999 Cricket World Cup and 2007 and 2022 T20 World Cups. Pakistan have also been runner ups in several Asia Cup editions.
Saad Bin Zafar is a Pakistani-Canadian cricketer who represents Canada in international cricket and is the current captain of the Canadian national cricket team. Saad is a left-handed all-rounder.
Hamza Tariq is a Pakistani-born Canadian cricketer. He plays as wicketkeeper batsman for the Canada national cricket team and made his debut in 2011. He has also played franchise cricket in the Caribbean Premier League and Global T20 Canada.
Samuel William Billings is an English professional cricketer. Billings is a right-handed batsman who fields as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Pembury in Kent and has played for Kent County Cricket Club sides since he was eight years old, making his senior debut for the First XI in 2011. In October 2017 he was appointed as the vice-captain of the team before being appointed as captain in January 2018, replacing Sam Northeast. He served as the club's captain until the end of the 2023 season when he resigned, although he retained the captaincy of the club's Twenty20 cricket side.
Adam Fraser Milne is a New Zealand professional cricketer who plays limited overs cricket for the New Zealand national cricket team. He is a right-arm fast bowler. He was also a part of the New Zealand squad to finish as runners-up at the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Nikhil Dutta is a Canadian cricketer. He has represented the Canada national cricket team since 2013 as a right-arm off spin bowler. He has also played for franchises in the Caribbean Premier League, Bangladesh Premier League and Global T20 Canada.

The New Jersey Stallions are an American professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in Minor League Cricket (MiLC). The team is based in Somerset, New Jersey. It was formed in 2020 as part of 24 original teams to compete in Minor League Cricket. The team is co-owned by businessmen Venu Palaparthi and Ravikumar Suri.
