Amplifest is an international music festival held in Porto, Portugal since 2011 by music promoter Amplificasom. It focuses on experimental music linked to multiple subgenres, such as post-rock, sludge metal, electronic music, neoclassical music, and hip-hop. Some notable acts that have played in previous editions include Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Cult of Luna, Amenra, Deafheaven, Converge, Chelsea Wolfe, Neurosis, Ben Frost, William Basinski, Anna von Hausswolff, Lingua Ignota, and Dälek.

Contents

The 2022 edition featured more than 50 bands over two weekends and was awarded the national Best Small Festival prize at the Iberian Festival Awards. [1]

2011

The 2011 edition was the first to be held, taking place entirely at Hard Club, Porto. Soldier of the Road and Blood, Sweat & Vinyl were the documentaries exhibited during the event.

In 2012, Amplifest took place once again at Hard Club, but featured events at three other venues: a warm-up show at Passos Manuel, a listening party at O Meu Mercedes, and a concert at Sé do Porto. Jem Cohen's Instrument and William Farley's In Between the Notes were exhibited on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of Amplifest was cancelled. A 2021 edition was announced, planned for October, but was postponed as well.

2022

The eight edition took place in 2022, across two weekends. As such, it was Amplifest's largest edition, featuring more than 50 bands, as well as talks, documentaries, DJ sets, a craft beer bar, and a photography exhibition.

The HFStival was an annual Washington, D.C. / Baltimore, Maryland rock festival. Held every summer from 1990 through 2006 by radio station WHFS, and held again in 2010 and 2011 in commemoration of the now-defunct station's legacy, the HFStival was at its peak the largest yearly music festival on the East Coast. 55,000 to 90,000 people attended the annual event, which had traditionally been held at RFK Stadium until the station moved to Baltimore in 2005. Hard is a national music festival, music cruise and concert brand founded in 2007. The event line-ups consist of alternative and electronic acts and emerging talents. The first Hard Music Festival was held on December 31, 2007 in Downtown Los Angeles and featured Justice, Peaches and 2 Live Crew. Hard is best known for the Hard Summer Music Festival and Hard Haunted Mansion, though also runs several smaller events and one-off shows. Hard is sometimes called "Hardfest" by fans, based on the event's website and social media shortcuts. David Michael Beer is an English music mogul who came to notice in the 1990s as the promoter of the UK's longest running club night Back To Basics. In the early days, his passport occupation read "purveyor of good times" and he went on to be nicknamed by music Mixmag as the "King Of Clubs". NHdocs is a regional festival that showcases documentaries by filmmakers from the greater New Haven area and beyond. NHdocs was launched in 2014 when the film festival’s co-founders Charles Musser, Gorman Bechard, Jacob Bricca, and Lisa Molomot came together at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and decided to create a documentary film festival in New Haven that would “build a sense of community among documentary filmmakers from the greater New Haven area.” In 2014, the four filmmakers each showed one of their recently completed documentaries, three of which had just played at the Big Sky.
