Anne E. Lopez (1962/1963) [1] is an American attorney,government official,and former healthcare executive. She has served as Attorney General of Hawaii since December 5,2022. Prior to her appointment by Governor Josh Green,Lopez was chief operating officer and general counsel for the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation. [2] [3]
Lopez received her legal education from William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. [4] From 2013 to 2015,Lopez served as a special assistant to Attorney General of Hawaii David M. Louie. [3] At the time of her appointment as Attorney General,she worked at the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation as chief operating officer and general counsel. [2] [3]
In December 2022,Lopez was nominated by Governor Josh Green to succeed Holly Shikada as Attorney General of Hawaii. [5] The Hawaii Senate confirmed Lopez's nomination on April 25,2023. [6] As Attorney General,Lopez declined to re-file charges against 38 kupuna arrested during the 2019 Thirty Meter Telescope protests. [7]

The 2022 Hawaii gubernatorial election took place on November 8,2022,to elect the next governor of Hawaii. Incumbent Democratic Governor David Ige was term-limited and ineligible to run for a third term. Incumbent lieutenant governor Josh Green was the Democratic nominee,and faced former lieutenant governor Duke Aiona,the Republican nominee. This marked the third time Aiona had been the Republican gubernatorial nominee,having previously run unsuccessfully in 2010 and 2014. Green won the election with 63.2% of the vote with Aiona receiving 36.8% of the vote.

She was appointed on December 10,2021 by Governor David Ige following the resignation of Clare Connors. The Hawaii Senate confirmed her nomination on April 19,2022. She was succeeded by Anne E. Lopez on December 5,2022.
