Arend Kisteman (born 13 May 1984) is a Dutch politician of the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), who has served as a member of the House of Representatives since December 2024.
Kisteman grew up in Zwolle. His mother was a stay-at-home parent, and his father worked as an internal auditor at a bank. The family was part of the Reformed Churches (Liberated), and Kisteman later became a member of the Dutch Reformed Churches. [1]
He founded a bakery in Zwolle called De Stadsbakker. In addition, he became chairperson of the Netherlands Bakery and Patisserie Entrepreneurs Association (NBOV). [1]
Kisteman has told that he became involved in politics when discussing compensation schemes for bakeries during the 2021–23 energy crisis. He had been a supporter of the VVD since he started running his bakery, having previously voted for the Christian Union. [1] Kisteman ran for the House of Representatives as the VVD's 23rd candidate in November 2023, and he was elected. [2] He serves as the parliamentary group's spokesperson on small and medium-sized enterprises, telecommunications, labor conditions, and unemployment benefits. The latter two subjects of his portfolio were replaced by primary and secondary education and lifelong learning following the swearing in of the Schoof cabinet. [3] To promote reading among children, he proposed with Ilana Rooderkerk (D66) to automatically enroll newborns in local libraries. [4]
As of 2024, Kisteman had a wife and lived in Zwolle. [1]

The People's Party for Freedom and Democracy is a conservative-liberal political party in the Netherlands. The VVD, whose forerunner was the Freedom Party, is a party of the centre-right that tries to promote private enterprise and economic liberalism.
Democrats 66 is a social liberal and progressive political party in the Netherlands, which is positioned in the centre of the political spectrum. It is a member of the Liberal International (LI) and the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE).
The second Balkenende cabinet was the executive branch of the Government of the Netherlands from 27 May 2003 until 7 July 2006. The cabinet was formed by the Christian-democratic Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA), the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD), and the social-liberal Democrats 66 (D66) after the election of 2003. The cabinet was a centre-right coalition and had a slim majority in the House of Representatives with Christian Democratic Leader Jan Peter Balkenende serving as Prime Minister. Liberal Leader Gerrit Zalm, a former Minister of Finance, served as Deputy Prime Minister and returned as Minister of Finance, while former Progressive-Liberal Leader Thom de Graaf served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister without Portfolio for the Interior.

The caretaker rump cabinet was a centre-right coalition and had a minority in the House of Representatives with Christian Democratic Leader Jan Peter Balkenende serving as Prime Minister. Former Liberal Leader Gerrit Zalm continued as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
Sophia Theodora Monique "Sophie" Hermans is a Dutch politician currently serving as Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Minister of Climate and Green Growth in the Schoof cabinet. Hermans previously served as a member of the House of Representatives representing People's Party for Freedom and Democracy between 2017 and 2024.

She previously held a seat in the municipal council of Amsterdam from 2018 to 2023. As an actress, Rooderkerk portrayed the character of Esmée Klein in the soap opera Onderweg naar Morgen from 2005 to 2010.
