Arlington is an unincorporated community along the Little Kanawha River in Upshur County, West Virginia, United States. [1] Alfious Arlington Fidler, an early postmaster, gave the town his middle name. [2] Its nineteenth century Fidler's Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [3] Arlington is located south of Rock Cave.

Arlington's public schools are operated by Upshur County Schools.

Upshur County is a county in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 23,816. Its county seat is Buckhannon. The county was formed in 1851 from Randolph, Barbour, and Lewis counties and named for Abel Parker Upshur, a distinguished statesman and jurist of Virginia. Abel Parker Upshur was an American lawyer, planter, judge and politician from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Active in Virginia state politics for decades, with a brother and a nephew who became distinguished U.S. Navy officers, Judge Upshur left the Virginia bench to become the Secretary of the Navy and Secretary of State during the administration of President John Tyler, a fellow Virginian. He negotiated the treaty that led to the 1845 Texas annexation to the United States and helped ensure that it was admitted as a slave state. Upshur died on February 28, 1844, when a gun on the warship USS Princeton exploded during a demonstration.

The Southern Methodist Church Building, now known and used as the Upshur County Historical Society's History Center Museum, is an historic former church building located at 81 W. Main Street in Buckhannon, Upshur County, West Virginia. It was built in 1856 with final modifications in the 1890s, and is a simple rectangular frame building. The original structure measures 45 feet by 33 feet in the Greek Revival style. In 1891, a 9 feet by 14 feet vestibule was added, along with a three-story bell tower. In 1968, it was sold to the Church of Christ and then sold to the Upshur County Historical Society in 1986.

The Clarendon School is a historic school building located in the Virginia Square neighborhood of Arlington County, Virginia. The structure was built in 1910 based on a design by noted Virginia architect Charles M. Robinson.

Agnes Howard Hall, also known as Ladies Hall or "Aggie," is a historic dormitory building located on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College at Buckhannon, Upshur County, West Virginia. It was built in 1895, and is a five-story brick building primarily used as a residence hall. It features an eclectic design with three tower caps and multiple hip roofs. An addition was completed in 1929 and extensive renovations occurred in 1952. It contains 77 sleeping rooms and 26 main bathrooms, along with office areas for residence assistants, lounge areas, kitchen facilities, and maintenance storage rooms. It was the first dormitory constructed at West Virginia Wesleyan College and the oldest on campus. It was officially named Agnes Howard Hall in 1920, in memory of a young woman who had died while a student at Wesleyan.

Fidler's Mill is a historic grist mill located at Arlington, Upshur County, West Virginia. It was built in 1847-1849 and enlarged in 1916. It is a two to four story frame building built of yellow poplar on a stone foundation. The mill provided ground wheat and buckwheat for flour, and ground cornmeal, and also housed wool carding machines, which were used seasonally.

Colonial Village is a historic garden apartment complex located at Arlington County, Virginia, United States. It contains 226 contributing buildings built in four stages between 1935 and 1940. The buildings hold approximately 1,055 apartments. The brick Colonial Revival-style buildings are situated around courtyards with clusters of five and seven buildings to larger groupings of up to thirteen. Colonial Village was the first Federal Housing Administration-insured, large-scale, rental housing project erected in the United States. The complex has been converted to condominiums split into three phases and two apartment complexes: Colonial Village Apartments and Colonial Village West.
