The Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship (AHF Club League Championship) is the annual international competition organised by Asian Handball Federation for the men's handball clubs of Asia. In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the IHF Super Globe.

The club is based in the Duhail district in the city of Doha and plays its home games at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. El-Jaish Sports Club was a Qatari multi-sports club from 2011 to 2017, based in the Al-Duhail area of Doha. The association football team played in the Qatar Stars League. The team won the Qatargas League prior to 2011, but were not eligible for promotion and as a result were not declared as the champions of the league. It was promoted to the first division, the Stars League, the first year after it was made eligible.

El Jaish Handball Team was the handball team of El Jaish SC, a multisport club based in the Al-Duhail area of Doha, Qatar. It used to compete in the Qatar Handball League (QHL). The team which was officially founded in 2011, became a dominant force in the QHL since its formation.

The 2016 Asian Men's Club League Handball Championship was the 19th edition of the Asian Club League Handball Championship held under the aegis of Asian Handball Federation.The championship was hosted by Al-Ahli Sports Club in Amman (Jordan) from 29 October to 5 November 2016. Al-Noor Club of Saudi Arabia won the championship by beating two times champion El-Jaish Sports Club of Qatar in the final match by 25-23. Defending Champion Lekhwiya Sports Club of Qatar managed to get bronze medal after beating Gachsaran Oil & Gas Club of Islamic Republic of Iran by 31-21. It is the official competition for men's handball clubs of Asia crowning the Asian champions. The winner of the championship qualified for the 2017 IHF Super Globe.

The fixture between Al-Duhail and Al Sadd is a local derby in Doha, Qatar and a fierce rivalry. The derby does not have a common name. Since the establishment of Al-Duhail, the matches between the two teams have become the most important in Qatar. The two teams have won the Qatar Stars League title 22 times, the Emir of Qatar Cup 21 times, the Qatar Cup (ex) Crown Prince Cup 11 times, and Sheikh Jassim Cup 17 times. On the continental level Al Sadd won the AFC Champions League twice and the Arab Champions League once.
