Jeux de la Francophonie

The Jeux de la Francophonie are a combination of artistic and sporting events for the Francophonie, mostly French-speaking nations, held every four years since 1989.

Kaltouma Nadjina is a Chadian sprinter. Her specialities are the 200 and 400 metres, and she holds Chadian records in those events, the 100 m, and the 800m. She won the 200 m events at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and the 200 and 400 m in the 2002 African Championships held in Tunis.

Ahmed Ibrahim Baday is a Moroccan long-distance runner who specialized in the 5000 metres and cross-country running but now competes in road running competitions. He is currently banned for doping.

Athletics at the 1994 Jeux de la Francophonie

At the 1994 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held in Bondoufle, near Paris, France. A total of 43 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 20 by female athletes.

Halima Hachlaf Moroccan runner

Halima Hachlaf is a Moroccan runner who specializes in the 800 metres. She is the younger sister of Abdelkader Hachlaf, an international steeplechase athlete. She won silver medals in the 800 m at the Mediterranean Games and Jeux de la Francophonie in 2009. Her personal best for the distance is 1:58.27.

The men's boxing competition at the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie took place between 29 September and 5 October. There were a total of 106 entrants competing in eleven different weight classes, following the classes that are contested in the Olympic boxing programme.

At the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie, the table tennis events were hosted at the club facilities of Homenetmen Beirut from 28 September to 4 October. A total of 54 competitors, 28 men and 26 women, took part in four different tournaments: a men's individual competition, a women's individual competition, a mixed doubles competition, and a team tournament.

Jessica Cérival is a French track and field athlete who specialises in the shot put.

Seltana Aït Hammou is a Moroccan middle-distance runner who specialises in the 800 metres. She represented her country at the 2004 Summer Olympics and has also competed at the World Championships in Athletics and the IAAF World Indoor Championships. She has also been the gold medallist at number of major events including the 2001 Mediterranean Games, the 2003 Military World Games, the 2007 Pan Arab Games and the 2009 Jeux de la Francophonie.

At the 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey, Niger, from 11–16 December 2005. A total of 43 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 20 by female athletes. France sent the largest squad and topped the medal table with 19 gold medals and 39 medals in total. Morocco was the next most successful nation, having won 11 golds and 31 medals altogether. This was large as a result of their middle- and long-distance running dominance which saw them take all three medals in four events, as well as three separate Moroccan 1–2 finishes. Canada and the Ivory Coast were third and fourth in the medal tally. Twenty of the 37 nations competing won a medal, although hosts Niger went empty-handed in the athletics competition.

Athletics at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie

At the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held at Terry Fox Stadium in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada between 19–23 July 2001. A total of 47 events were contested, of which 24 by male and 23 by female athletes. Included in this were two disability athletics events for wheelchair racers. A total of 23 Games records were broken or equalled in the competition.

Aziz Ouhadi Moroccan sprinter

Aziz Ouhadi is a Moroccan track and field athlete who competes in the 100 metres and 200 metres. His 100 m personal best of 10.09 seconds is the Moroccan national record. He was part of the Morocco team for the 2012 London Olympics. He represented his country at the 2009 and 2011 World Championships and 2012 World Indoor Championships and has won medals at the Jeux de la Francophonie and the Military World Games.

2015 African Games 11th edition of the African Games

The 11th African Games took place from September 4–19, 2015 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. This edition marked the 50th anniversary of the Games, as well as their return to Brazzaville, which hosted the first edition in 1965.

At the 2013 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held at Stade Charles-Ehrmann from September 10 to September 14. The host country, France, topped the medal table in front of Poland and Canada. A total of 8 Games records was bettered during the competition.

2017 Jeux de la Francophonie

The 2017 Jeux de la Francophonie, also known as VIIIèmes Jeux de la Francophonie, took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from July 21–30. This was the first edition of the games to be hosted in Ivory Coast.
