Auchlochan is a village in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is on the River Nethan and is located near the villages of Birkwood, Braehead and Coalburn. The nearest village being Coalburn Right next to Hollandbush Golf Course built on Hollandbush farm coalburn . [1]
From 1890 to 1968 they were several collieries in the area known as the Auchlochan Collieries. [2] [3] From 1907 to 1965 there was a railway station called Auchlochan Platform railway station.[ citation needed ]
There is a MHA retirement village. [4] As well as a golf club in coalburn. [5]

The Lesmahagow Railway, south of Glasgow in Scotland, was developed by a company known as The Lesmahagow Branches. It was not an independent company in the usual sense. It was a financially independent, self-contained unit within the framework of the Caledonian Railway. The shareholders and officers of both companies were mainly the same people. The line was built largely to transport the vast amount of coal being produced by the many mines in the area. Royal assent was given to build the line in 1847 but construction did not commence till 1854. In 1856 the line was opened in stages. Later there was found to be a demand for passenger services which commenced in 1868. In 1923, with the grouping, the CR amalgamated with several other companies to form the London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) which, following nationalisation in 1947, became part of British Railways.

Westburn is a district of the town of Cambuslang in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. It was formerly home to a steel works and power station which were the area's major employers; the sites are now occupied by a housing development and modern industrial estate respectively. Administratively, Westburn is within the Cambuslang East ward of the South Lanarkshire Council area and has a population of around 2,000.

The Auchlochan Collieries were several collieries in Auchlochan and Coalburn, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Production started in 1894 - run by Caprington and Auchlochan Collieries Ltd and then by William Dixon & Company from the 1930s before the NCB took over in 1947 - ending in 1968 when the collieries closed. They were served at Auchlochan Platform railway station, part of the Coalburn Branch of the Caledonian Railway. Eight people were killed at the collieries.
