Presidential elections were held in Austria on 18 May 1980. Supported by both major parties, the ruling Socialist Party and opposition Austrian People's Party, incumbent president Rudolf Kirchschläger was re-elected with a landslide of 79.9% of the vote. [1] The competing candidates were Willfried Gredler of the Freedom Party of Austria and Norbert Burger of the National Democratic Party, which was later banned. [2]

2010 Austrian presidential election election

The Austrian presidential election took place on 25 April 2010. It was the twelfth election of an Austrian head of state since 1951. The candidates were President Heinz Fischer, Barbara Rosenkranz (FPÖ) and Rudolf Gehring (CPÖ). Heinz Fischer won with just under 80% of the valid votes. The turnout was on the historic low of about 54%.

The National Democratic Party was a far-right political party in Austria from 1967 until 1988 when its status was revoked for violating the country's anti-Nazi legislation.

1974 Austrian presidential election

Presidential elections were held in Austria on 23 June 1974 after incumbent President Franz Jonas died on 24 April. The Socialist Party nominated Foreign Minister Rudolf Kirchschläger, who won the election with 51.7% of the vote. The only other candidate was the mayor of Innsbruck, Alois Lugger, of the Austrian People's Party.
