Oricon Inc., established in 1999, is the holding company at the head of a Japanese corporate group that supplies statistics and information on music and the music industry in Japan and Western music. It started as Original Confidence Inc., which was founded by Sōkō Koike in November 1967 and became known for its music charts. Oricon Inc. was originally set up as a subsidiary of Original Confidence and took over the latter's Oricon record charts in April 2002.
Sound Horizon is a Japanese symphonic rock musical group with composer Revo as the leader and only permanent member. They describe themselves as a "fantasy band" and have released works that closely resemble classical suites. Their songs often revolve around historical events and classic fairytales. When creating music based on other people's stories, the band uses the name Linked Horizon.
Sakurazaka46, formerly Keyakizaka46, is a Japanese idol girl group produced by Yasushi Akimoto. The group was created on August 21, 2015, becoming Nogizaka46's first sister group under the Sakamichi Series. Following the resignation of group's center Yurina Hirate, the group was rebranded as Sakurazaka46 after their last concert on October 13, 2020. The group's fans are known as Buddies.
Dinosaur is the twentieth studio album by the Japanese rock duo B'z. It was released on 29 November 2017. It came after a hiatus in which the members released solo projects, including vocalist/lyricist Koshi Inaba's collaborative album with Stevie Salas, Chubby Groove, and guitarist/composer Tak Matsumoto's solo effort enigma and collaborative studio album with Daniel Ho Electric Island, Acoustic Sea.
Face Yourself is the third Japanese and fifth overall studio album by South Korean boy band BTS released on April 4, 2018, through Big Hit, Virgin, Universal Music Japan and Def Jam Recordings. Official Hige Dandism, commonly abbreviated Higedan (ヒゲダン), is a pop rock band formed in Shimane, Japan in 2012.
Japanese boy band JO1 has released three studio albums, one video album, eight singles, thirty six promotional singles, and seventeen music videos with Lapone Entertainment. Formed through the reality competition show Produce 101 Japan, JO1 debuted in 2020 with the single Protostar and the Japan Hot 100 number-one song "Infinity". The single made the group the seventh Japanese artist to sell over 300,000 copies of a debut single in the first week. It was followed by the single Stranger and its lead track "Oh-Eh-Oh", both of which peaked atop the Oricon Singles Chart and the Japan Hot 100, respectively. The group's first studio album, The Star (2020), debuted at number two on the Japan Hot Albums chart.
The Book is the debut EP by Japanese duo Yoasobi. It was released on January 6, 2021, through Sony Music Entertainment Japan, the same date with their single "Kaibutsu", accompanied the second season of Beastars. A concept of "reading CD" with binder package, the EP consists of all singles released from 2019 to 2020, including other track "Encore". The track-by-track cover EP Mikunoyoasobi by Ayase with Vocaloid voicebank Hatsune Miku, was released on the same day exclusively at Tower Records Japan.
Challenger is an extended play (EP) marketed as the third single of Japanese boy group JO1. It also served as the lead single for their second studio album, Kizuna (2022). Consisting of a total of six songs, the EP single was released by Lapone Entertainment into three different physical editions and one digital edition on April 28, 2021. It features the participation of various Japanese and South Korean songwriters and production teams such as Score, Megatone, Teito, Kebee, Masahiro Ōchi, Hayato Tanaka and others. The single earned the top spot at the Oricon Singles Chart and received a Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of Japan with its lead track "Born to Be Wild" peaked atop the Billboard Japan Hot 100.
BTS, the Best is the second Japanese-language compilation album by South Korean boy band BTS. It was released on June 16, 2021, through Big Hit Music, Universal Music Japan sublabel Virgin Music and Def Jam Recordings. The album is a compilation of their previous two Japanese-language studio albums, Face Yourself (2018) and Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey (2020). It was a commercial success in Japan, reaching number one on the Oricon Albums Chart, and earned the biggest first week sales for an album in 2021 domestically. BTS became the first South Korean group to surpass the 1 million sales mark for an album in the country.
Naniwa Danshi (なにわ男子) is a Japanese boy band formed by Starto Entertainment on October 6, 2018. It consists of seven members who primarily come from the Kansai region. The group's official debut announcement was made on July 28, 2021, through their label Storm Labels. Their debut single, "Ubu Love", was released on November 12, 2021. Naniwa Danshi is the fourth Starto Entertainment group from the Kansai region after KinKi Kids, Super Eight, and West. to make an official debut. The name "Naniwa" refers to the old name of Osaka. In just 4 months they sold 1.14 million physical copies in Japan.
Highway X is the twenty-second studio album by the Japanese rock duo B'z. It was released on August 10, 2022, and was their first album released after the COVID-19 pandemic started.
&Team is a Japanese boy band based in Japan and South Korea formed by HYBE Labels Japan. The group is composed of nine members: K, Fuma, Nicholas, EJ, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, and Maki. They were formed through the reality-survival program &Audition – The Howling – as their label's first group. &Team released their debut single "Under the Skin" on November 21, 2022, and officially debuted with their first extended play First Howling: Me on December 7, 2022.
Dream is the third Japanese-language extended play by South Korean boy band Seventeen. It was released on November 9, 2022, through Hybe Labels Japan. It contains the original song "Dream", the Japanese versions of the two previously released Korean singles "Rock with You" and "All My Love", and the "holiday" version of the English track "Darl+ing". The EP has been marketed as the band's "first" Japanese-language EP despite Seventeen having recorded two previous Japanese EPs, We Make You and 24H, which were officially classified as "mini-albums".
"Stars" is the fifty-fourth single by the Japanese rock duo B'z. It was released on July 12, 2023, and is their first single in six years, after Seimei/Still Alive, making it the longest gap between singles. It was released in commemoration of the band's 35th anniversary.
