Alexander James Ritchie Barnes (born 10 July 1992), best known by his stage name B-Nasty is an Australian rapper, songwriter and record producer, actor and entrepreneur. B-Nasty has worked with artists such as Bangs, Gerald Walker, DJ Symphony, GZA and Ghostface Killah of Wu-Tang Clan and performed with Lil Eazy-E and DJ Yella of N.W.A and Stonebwoy. [1]

Ajak Chol, better known by his stage name Bangs, Ur Boy Bangs and Ur Boi Bangs and formerly Bstar Bangs, is a South Sudanese-Australian hip hop artist. He is best known for his viral songs "Take U to Da Movies" and "Meet Me on Facebook".

Gerald Joshua Walker, better known by his stage name Gerald Walker, is an American hip-hop musician, author and singer from Chicago, Illinois. In 2018 he announced a partnership with Stalley’s hip-hop collective Blue Collar Gang. Walker is known for his soul influenced style of hip-hop, and his associations with artist Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Cardo, Yelawolf, Skyzoo and Rockie Fresh.

Biography

1992–2014: Early life & career beginnings

B-Nasty was born in Middle Swan and was raised with a middle-class background in Midland, Western Australia. He was accepted cross-boundary into Perth Modern School in suburban Subiaco, Western Australia after being accepted into the schools music program for playing classical guitar. [2]

The suburb is most notable for its various wineries, including Houghton and Sandalford, but has the Midland brickworks within its boundaries, as well as an accommodation facility for country students attending the Governor Stirling Senior High School and Swan Christian College.

Freestyle rapping from his home computer in 2009, B-Nasty started to craft his unique flow with heavy influences from East Coast Rap such as Red Café, Diddy, Jay-Z and Fabolous. [3] He recorded each song of his EP, The Beginning EP one at a time also releasing them one at a time over the years . Whilst in the process of recording the EP at 2PM Records he met Perth sound engineer Erban Terra who recorded, mixed and mastered all of his EP and subsequently coached him. [4] B-Nasty first performed in 2015 at The Civic Hotel, Inglewood, Western Australia. [5]

Freestyle is a style of improvisation with or without instrumental beats, in which lyrics are recited with no particular subject or structure. It is similar to other improvisational music, such as jazz, where a lead instrumentalist acts as an improviser with a supporting band providing a beat. Improv/freestyles are improvised in this way.

East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in New York City during the early 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in The Bronx, New York; East Coast hip hop only became a distinct subgenre after artists from other regions of the United States emerged with different styles. In contrast to other styles, East Coast hip hop music has prioritized complex lyrics for attentive listening rather than beats for dancing. The main components of hip hop culture from that time and still today are MCing, DJing, break dancing, and graffiti.

Red Café American rapper and songwriter from New York

Jermaine Denny, better known by his stage name Red Café, is an American rapper. At various points in his career, he was signed to Fabolous' Street Family Records, Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records, Akon's Konvict Muzik and Mack 10's Hoo-Bangin Records. He has also ghostwritten for many popular rappers over the years.

2015-2016: The End of the Beginning

In November 2015, B-Nasty released his first single Stunt Like Me from his debut album The End of the Beginning . The majority of the album was recorded at Galactix Studio in Burswood, Western Australia. Whilst recording his album, Barnes collaborated with fellow label mate Esha on her debut single Choppa. [6]

Barnes had two major features on his album, the first being viral YouTube hip hop artist Bangs, B-Nasty first met Bangs in August 2016 performing at The Flying Scotsman in Mount Lawley on his West Australian leg of the tour after he released a diss track for Jimmy Fallon. They recorded Ayo. The second was Gerald Walker, Barnes met Walker during the Australian leg of his international tour, TARGET World Tour, They recorded 4AM. Neither of the tracks were featured as singles. [7]

Leading up to the release of the album, Barnes was invited to perform at Metro City for the ‘Straight Outa Compton’ Tour with Lil Eazy-E and DJ Yella from N.W.A. The album was then released online on the 10th December 2016 [8] and later launched at Jimmy's Den, Northbridge. [9]

Eric Darnell Wright Jr., better known by his stage name Lil Eazy-E and Lil Eazy, is an American musician and HIV activist. He is CEO of NWA Entertainment, LLC, a music and media production company which he is partners with Lisa Marcum and his brother Derrek Wright. He also manages Compton MoneyGang made of his brother Derrek Wright and members of his family. The oldest son of gangster rap pioneer Eazy-E, he was born and raised in the same Compton, California house his father grew up in.

DJ Yella American DJ

Antoine Carraby, better known by his stage name DJ Yella, is an American rapper, DJ, record producer and film director from Compton, California. He was a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru along with Dr. Dre. He later joined the pioneering gangsta rap group N.W.A.

N.W.A was an American hip hop group from Compton, California. They were among the earliest and most significant popularizers and controversial figures of the gangsta rap subgenre, and are widely considered one of the greatest and most influential groups in the history of hip hop music.

2017-present: Wu-Invasion Mixtape Series & New Era

In December 2017, [10] Wu-Tang Clans official tour DJ, DJ Symphony announced in an Instagram post [11] that B-Nasty would be on the Wu-Invasion Mixtape Series: Australian Edition Volume 1 [12] the project was released on the 20th January 2018. during this time Barnes also announced that he was working on his second EP New Era.
