BBC Cymru Fyw is the online Welsh-language service provided by BBC Wales. It was launched in 2014 in order to replace the BBC Cymru ar lein service. It provides news coverage, magazine-style information and video clips, all through the medium of Welsh. [1] Its services are also available via applications on iOS and Android systems.

Cymru Fyw received around 53,000 unique browser visits each week in 2016–2017, which was an increase of 11,000 visits compared to the previous year. [2] [3]

<i>Y Cymro</i> Welsh-language newspaper

Y Cymro is a Welsh-language newspaper, which was first published in 1932. It was founded in Wrexham, and succeeded other newspapers of the same name that had existed during the 19th and early 20th centuries. It is Wales's only national newspaper in Welsh and was previously published weekly. In 2017, the owners and publishers, Tindle Newspapers Group, announced that they would stop publication and that they were looking for new owners to publish the paper. In March 2018, after negotiations between the two companies, its new owners Cyfryngau Cymru Cyf. started publishing Y Cymro as a monthly newspaper. The new company also set up a new Y Cymro website.

Y Dinesydd is a monthly local Welsh-language newspaper for Cardiff, Wales, established in October 1973. It is available at schools, chapels, various organisations and companies. It contains news and articles about organisations in Cardiff and includes paid advertisements. These organisations include: Cricc, Côrdydd, Menter Caerdydd, Eglwys Minny Street, Eglwys y Crwys, Eglwys Annibynnol Ebeneser, Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf, Ysgol Gyfun Plasmawr, Ysgol Melin Gruffydd, Aelwyd CF1 and many more. They are based in Llandaff North, an area of Cardiff.

The first Welsh-language comic was Ifor Owen's Hwyl which ran from 1949 to 1989.

Television in Wales began in 1952. Initially, all programmes were in English with occasional Welsh language programmes. In 1982 Welsh language channel S4C was launched. The digital switchover happened in 2009-2010 and S4C became an exclusively Welsh language channel.

Cân i Gymru is a Welsh television show broadcast on S4C annually. It was first introduced in 1969 when BBC Cymru wanted to enter the Eurovision Song Contest. It has taken place every year since, except in 1973. The winner of the contest represents Wales at the annual Pan Celtic Festival held in Ireland and is also awarded a cash prize.
