Back to the Water Below is the fourth studio album by English rock duo Royal Blood. It was released on 1 September 2023 by Warner Records. The album is produced by the band themselves, having previously self-produced the majority of their previous album. It received acclaim from critics.
Back to the Water Below was recorded in Royal Blood's home studio in Brighton. Of the decision to produce the album themselves as opposed to minor input from outside producers as the band had done on their previous records, frontman Mike Kerr said in an interview with NME that the recording process allowed the band to "[force themselves] to do things that came naturally". [3] The album title takes its name from a lyric in the song "Pull Me Through." [4]
The band began teasing new music on Instagram on 12 May 2023, [5] with the first in a series of videos being released showing work being done in the studio, such as demos of new riffs.
On 25 May 2023, the album's lead single "Mountains at Midnight" was released alongside an accompanying music video. [6]
The band released the second single from the album, "Pull Me Through", on 13 July 2023.
The band toured North America and Europe in support of the album, [7] including as an opening act for Muse on their Will of the People World Tour in the summer. The band then embarked on their own headlining tour in the autumn. [8] [9]
The deluxe edition of Back to the Water Below was accompanied by a bonus 7" that included the two B-sides of the album, "Supermodel Avalanches" and "Everything's Fine". [10]
Although fans received both bonus tracks well, "Supermodel Avalanches" was met with particularly high acclaim from fans of the band, who widely demanded the song be released officially on streaming services. After teasing the song online, the band debuted the song live on 15 November at a gig at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland. [11] The song became a mainstay of the setlist, and on 19 December, the band released Back to the Water Below (Bonus Edition) onto all streaming services and platforms, which included "Supermodel Avalanches" as an eleventh bonus track. [12] The release was presented as a Christmas gift, with the band wishing their fans a "Merry Riffmas" as a part of the release.

Back to the Water Below received a score of 81 out of 100 on review aggregator Metacritic based on seven critics' reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". [13] Mojo stated that it has "top-drawer tunes throughout", [19] while Kerrang! 's Mark Sutherland noted that it "really ought to broaden Royal Blood's appeal still further" with its "tightly-wound riffing and ludicrous lyrics". [16] Erica Campbell of NME described it as "an album that highlights the band's rock and roll instincts, self-knowledge and ability to generate something new with a bass, drums and zero hand holding". [20]
Neil McCormick of The Telegraph summarised that "rock fans should be delighted that Kerr and Thatcher are still in the ring, giving it everything they've got" as "lyricist Kerr sounds like he has been in the wars" and "like a man undergoing changes, using music to understand himself". [22] Finlay Holden of The Line of Best Fit called Back to the Water Below "simultaneously a refinement and expansion of the Royal Blood formula" as well as "a short and snappy experience". [17] DIY 's Sarah Jamieson felt that the duo "mov[e] away from the more shallow-sounding confines of its predecessor" and "manage to make a return to the towering riffs that populated their early releases, while adding some much-needed dynamism". [14]

Garage Inc. is a compilation album of cover songs by American heavy metal band, Metallica. It was released on November 24, 1998, through Elektra Records. It includes cover songs, B-side covers, and The $5.98 E.P. - Garage Days Re-Revisited, which had gone out of print since its original release in 1987. The title is a combination of Garage Days Revisited and Metallica's song "Damage, Inc.", from Master of Puppets. The album's graphical cover draws heavily from the 1987 EP. The album features songs by artists that have influenced Metallica, including many bands from new wave of British heavy metal, hardcore punk bands and popular songs.

English rock duo Royal Blood have released four studio albums, two extended plays (EPs), nineteen singles and twenty-two music videos. Formed in Brighton in March 2011, Royal Blood consists of bassist and vocalist Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher. After signing with Warner Bros. Records, the duo released their debut single "Out of the Black" in October 2013, which debuted at number 29 on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart. In February 2014, "Little Monster" was issued as the band's second single, registering on the UK Singles Chart at number 95 and the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart at number one. Both singles were later issued alongside their B-sides on the EP Out of the Black in March. "Come On Over" – initially featured as the B-side to "Out of the Black" – was released as a single in April, reaching number 68 on the UK Singles Chart. At the same time, "Little Monster" also returned to the charts, peaking at number 74 on the UK Singles Chart.
We Are Not Your Kind is the sixth studio album by American heavy metal band Slipknot. Recorded at EastWest Studios in Hollywood, California with co-producer Greg Fidelman, it was released on August 9, 2019, by Roadrunner Records. The title is taken from a lyric in the song "All Out Life", which was released as a standalone single in 2018 and features as a bonus track on the Japanese edition of the album. We Are Not Your Kind is the only Slipknot album to be recorded as an eight-member band, as their former percussionist Chris Fehn was fired from the band in March 2019 after suing the group for alleged unpaid royalties.

Atum: A Rock Opera in Three Acts is the twelfth studio album by American rock band the Smashing Pumpkins. The album was released in three separate installments of 11 songs—Atum: Act One was released on November 15, 2022, Atum: Act Two was released on January 31, 2023, and Atum: Act Three was released on May 5, 2023. A physical box set consisting of all 33 songs, along with a group of 10 additional exclusive songs, was released in early May 2023.
