Bihar Agricultural University is an autonomous public state university in Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. It was established in 1908 as Bengal Provincial Agricultural College by Andrew Henderson Leith Fraser and was later renamed as Bihar Agricultural College following the partition of Bengal. [1] It was placed under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in 2010 and is the oldest agricultural institute of the state.

Agriculture Knowledge Dissemination System

Bihar Agriculture University is engaged in Research and Extension activities in the field of agriculture. In order to extend the research done in the University to farmers of Bihar, it signed an agreement with World Development Foundation, New Delhi to implement a project of "Agriculture Knowledge Dissemination System". [2] The project basically involved educating the farmers using ICT and video conferencing system for improved agriculture and livestock production.

Agricultural Universities (AUs) are mostly public universities in India that are engaged in teaching, research and extension in agriculture and related disciplines. In India, agricultural education has evolved into a large and distinct domain, often separately from other areas of higher education. Many of these universities are member of a registered society, the Indian Agricultural Universities Association. Indian Council of Agricultural Research is the main regulatory authority of agricultural education in India, while the disciplines of veterinary medicine and forestry are regulated by the Veterinary Council of India and Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education respectively. Based on the statutes establishing these universities, agricultural universities in India can be grouped into various types.

Dr. C.V. Raman University, Bihar (CVRU) is a private university located at Bhagwanpur in Vaishali district, Bihar, India. The university was established in 2018 by the All India Society for Electronics & Computer Technology (AISECT) under the Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013, the fourth of six private universities planned in Bihar, following the first two private universities, K. K. University and Sandip University, Sijoul and later Amity University, Patna. The university was notified in the Bihar Gazette following a decision of the Bihar cabinet on 5 June 2018 and has an official establishment date of 15 June 2018.
