William Avner Paschal Jr. (May 28, 1921 May 25, 2003) was an American football fullback in the National Football League for the New York Giants and the Boston Yanks.

Early life

Paschal was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Tech High School, where he played football and track. [1] He then played briefly at Georgia Tech before injuring his knee. After the injury, he left school and went to work as a railroad switchman in Georgia. [1]

Professional career

After his knee healed, Paschal got a tryout with the New York Giants on the recommendation of the sportswriter Grantland Rice and eventually signed with New York in 1943 for $1,500. [1] He became the first player to win consecutive rushing championships in the NFL, gaining 572 yards on 147 carries in his rookie year and 737 yards on 196 rushes in his second year. He also led the league in rushing touchdowns both years, with ten in 1943 and nine in 1944. [1]

Paschal was then traded to the Boston Yanks during the 1947 season and played through 1948, before retiring. He gained 2,430 yards with 28 rushing touchdowns for his career. [1]

Paschal and his wife, Carolyn had four daughters and a son. [1]

Jarrod Ray Bunch is an American former football player, and former head coach of the Beverly Hills High School football team. He played college football for the Michigan Wolverines from 1986 to 1990. He was the first-round pick for the New York Giants in the 1991 NFL draft. Bunch was named New York Giants Offensive Player of the Year in 1992. In the 1993 training camp, Bunch sustained a knee injury that tore ligaments in his knee that sidelined him for seven weeks; upon his return, his ability to play was greatly affected. After multiple surgeries in the offseason, his contract with the Giants was terminated after he failed a physical examination before the start of 1994 season. He signed with Los Angeles Raiders two weeks later. Bunch retired from football in 1995. He is the president of the NFLPA former players Los Angeles Chapter. He and his wife Robin Emtage live in Beverly Hills, California.

Ralph Earhart was a halfback in the National Football League (NFL). Earhart was born on March 29, 1923, in Milburn, Oklahoma. He attended Lefors High School where he played football, basketball and track-and-field. Earhart's football team's were successful, reaching various local title games and winning the district title during his senior year. However, it was revealed that Earhart had played high school basketball prior to attending Lefors, meaning he was ineligible for sports his senior year. The football team forfeited their games and district title that season.
