Biswa Bangla Biswabidyalay is a state-aided university located in Bolpur, Birbhum, West Bengal. [1] [2] The university was established in 2020 by the Biswa Bangla Biswabidyalay Act, 2017 [3] , passed by the Government of West Bengal in memory of Rabindranath Tagore, the renowned poet and Nobel laureate, and aims to establish a Center of Excellence devoted to the teaching, learning and research in various branches of study.

The mission of the university is to foster academic excellence and research in the areas of Modern Science, Arts, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Tagorean studies, Indian philosophy, Music and Drama etc. By blending traditional wisdom with modern methodologies, the institution aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and serve as a center for innovative thought and learning.

Dr. Hazra is a Social Work (MSW) Educator, Author, Researcher and a Development Professional from Bolpur-Santiniketan, West Bengal, India. He completed his Doctoral Research on Rural Sanitation Management (Swachh Bharat) and qualified for the National Eligibility Test (NET) for consecutively four times and awarded a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India. So far, he has authored four (4) books and contributed over 100 research articles to different international and national social science journals across the globe. His books on different developmental issues are still among the best-sellers.

Swapan Kumar Datta is a (Professor) of rice biotechnology who focuses on genetic engineering of Indica rice. Datta has demonstrated the development of genetically engineered Indica rice from protoplast derived from haploid embryogenic cell suspension culture. Golden Indica Rice with enriched Provitamin A and Ferritin rice with high iron content were developed by his group with a vision to meet the challenges of malnutrition in developing countries. Datta has been named as one among the top 25 Indian scientists from all fields of science by India Today.
