Bodhiraja Buddhist Society is a Theravada organisation in Singapore. Its headquarters is located in Geylang, Singapore.

Sri Bodhiraja Foundation is a nonprofit Buddhist charity organization based in Embilipitiya, Sri Lanka. It was established by Venerable Omalpe Sobhita Thero in 1991. Soon after, the foundation has been registered as an incorporated body by the Sri Lankan Parliament under the act No. 30 of 1993. The Foundation has since then expanded to provide educational, social and development projects for raising the spiritual, physical and economic well-being of the rural villagers, especially in Embilipitiya and in nearby areas.

The founder, Ven Omalpe Sobhita Thero, strongly believes that the monk's role is to serve the happiness and well-being of all beings. He is well aware that without the basic needs met, there cannot be spiritual growth. Therefore he strives tirelessly to improve the living standards of the poor rural villages while sharing his deep knowledge of the Dhamma with all.

Bodhiraja Dharmayatanaya (Bhikkhu Training Center) commence it's daily routine at 5.30 am with group meditation and recitation of the Dhamma. The daily evening puja at 6.30 pm also a ritual in the temple. The puja means offerings and chanting which enable the devotees to deepen their faith. It also promotes a sense of belonging to the community by drawing the villagers together. On fuIl-moon days (poya), more than 1500 people gather at the temple to observe the eight precepts, to listen to Dhamma sermons and to meditate.

Jathika Hela Urumaya

The Jathika Hela Urumaya is a nationalist political party in Sri Lanka. The JHU was launched in February 2004 by the lay-based, Sinhala nationalist political party Sihala Urumaya. Founding members include Kolonnawe Sumangala Thero, Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero, Ellawala Medhananda Thero, Omalpe Sobhitha Thero, Athuraliye Rathana Thero and Thilak Karunaratne. Some Sri Lankan Buddhists, including the All Island Clergy Organization, denounced the decision by monks to enter politics. The party drew support mainly from the middle class conservatives and the Buddhist youth.

Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery is an organization of Buddhist monasteries of Sri Lankan origin established to benefit the spiritual development of human beings using the teachings of the Gautama Buddha. Its main monastery is in Polgahawela, Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka is home to 40 branches of the organization. Overseas branches are in Canada, USA, Australia, UK, Dubai, South Korea, India, Italy, and Germany. And Mahamevnawa is home to more than 700 Buddhist monks.

Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero

Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero is a Sri Lankan monk. who is the Founder of Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery and Shraddha Media Network.

The Uposatha is a Buddhist day of observance, in existence from the Buddha's time, and still being kept today by Buddhist practitioners. The Buddha taught that the Uposatha day is for "the cleansing of the defiled mind," resulting in inner calm and joy. On this day, both lay and ordained members of the sangha intensify their practice, deepen their knowledge and express communal commitment through millennia-old acts of lay-monastic reciprocity. On these days, the lay followers make a conscious effort to keep the Five Precepts or the eight precepts. It is a day for practicing the Buddha's teachings and meditation.

In Buddhism, symbolic offerings are made to the Triple Gem, giving rise to contemplative gratitude and inspiration. Typical material offerings involve simple objects such as a lit candle or oil lamp, burning incense, flowers, food, fruit, water or drinks.

Buddhist Library (Singapore) Library in Singapore

The Buddhist Library is the first dedicated Buddhist library in Singapore. The library, which is located in a shophouse in Geylang, aims to meet the needs of the Buddhist community and anyone interested in Buddhism. It is unique in that it is not a voluntary association or a temple and because it takes a non-sectarian approach to Buddhism. Gangodawila Soma Thero

Gangodawila Soma Thero was a bhikkhu from Sri Lanka. Following tradition, he used the name of his birthplace, Gangodawila, in front of his name; thero is a term for an elder monk. Soma thero followed the example set by his teacher, Madihe Pannaseeha Thero, and was both a learned monk and as a social reformer. The cause of his death remains in dispute by some.

Most Venerable Madihe Pannaseeha Mahathera was an eminent Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, who was the Mahanayaka of Amarapura sect from July 13, 1969 until his death on September 9, 2003.

Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thera A great Buddhist monk and a scholar

Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thera was a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk, who was one of the pioneers of Sri Lankan Buddhist revivalist movement in the 19th century. He did a great service to improve the Buddhist Education in the country and was the founder of Vidyodaya Pirivena, Maligakanda in 1873 which was granted the university status later in 1959 by the Government of Sri Lanka. A veteran author and a fiery orator, he was a major figure in the Panadurawadaya, a religious debate held between Christian missionaries and Buddhist monks in 1873 at Panadura, Sri Lanka. He was well versed in Sinhala, Pali, Sanskrit, English, Buddhism, History, Arithmetic, and Archaeology and was one of the primary sources of information on Buddhism for the success of the Panadura debate.

Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple

The Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple is located at St. Michael's Road in Bendemeer, Singapore. The temple is the primary Sri Lanka Buddhist temple of its kind in Singapore.It is one of the Theravada Buddhist temples in Singapore which is founded years back from Buddhist monks from Sri Lanka. It is operated by the Singapore Sinhala Buddhist Association which was established in 1920.

Palane Vajiragnana Thero

Palane Vajiragnana Thero was a Sri Lankan (Sinhala) scholar Buddhist monk, who founded the renowned Siri Vajiraramaya temple in Bambalapitiya, Sri Lanka. He was also the Maha Nayaka (head) of Amarapura Sri Dharmarakshita sect for 37 years from August 5, 1918 until his death in 1955.

K. Sri Dhammaratana Malaysian Buddhist monk (born 1948)
