Bolgatanga East District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Bolgatanga District in 1988; until the eastern part of the district was later split off to create Bolgatanga East District on 15 March 2018, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2350; thus the remaining part has been retained as Bolgatanga Municipal District . The district assembly is located in the central part of Upper East Region and has Zuarungu as its capital town.

Bolgatanga Municipal District is one of the fifteen districts in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Bolgatanga District; which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1438, until the southeast part of the district was split off by a decree of president John Agyekum Kufuor on August 2004 to create Talensi-Nabdam District; thus the remaining part was elevated to municipal district assembly status on the same year to become Bolgatanga Municipal District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1797. However on 15 March 2018, the eastern part of the district was later split off to create Bolgatanga East District, which was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2321; thus the remaining part has been retained as Bolgatanga Municipal District. The municipality is located in the central part of Upper East Region and has Bolgatanga as its capital town, which also serves as the capital of the Upper East Region.

West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly District in North East, Ghana

West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly is one of the six districts in North East Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988 when it was known as West Mamprusi District, which was created from the former Mamprusi District Council, until the western part of the district was split off on 28 June 2012 to create Mamprugu-Moagduri District; thus the remaining part has been retained as West Mamprusi District. However on 15 March 2018, it was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become West Mamprusi Municipal District. The municipality is located in the western part of North East Region and has Walewale as its capital town. Other settlements within the municipal assembly include Wulugu.

Talensi-Nabdam District is a former district that was located in Upper East Region, Ghana. Originally it was formerly part of the then-larger Bolgatanga District on August 2004. However on 28 June 2012, it was split oft into two new districts: Talensi District and Nabdam District. The district assembly was located in the central part of Upper East Region and had Tongo as its capital town.

Bolgatanga Technical University

The Bolgatanga Technical UniversityBTU, is a public tertiary institution in the Upper East Region of Ghana. It was converted into a Technical University in 2016 during the administration of the former president of Ghana, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama. The institution was established in the year 1999 but started rolling out its academic programs in September 2003. Currently, the school has two campuses, one at Bukere and the other Sumbrungu. The main campus of the school is located in Sumbrungu near Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region of Ghana. The School started work at the former Meat Marketing Company building in Bukere, a suburb of Bolgatanga. The building was eventually acquired for the School which became its first permanent site. The School operated from this site where it recruited its pioneer staff and also introduced its first academic programmes until in 2007 when it relocated to its new site in Sumbrungu on the BolgatangaNavrongo highway. They also have an Evening School where both tertiary and non-tertiary programs are run at the old campus, Bukere.

Walewale District Capital in North East region

Walewale is a town and the capital of West Mamprusi Municipal in the North East Region of Ghana. It lies on the main road from Bolgatanga to Tamale, at the junction of the road west to Nalerigu, thecapital of the newly created North East Region. It was founded by the Mamprusis. The language spoken by the people of Walewale is largely Mampruli, which is followed by kassim. The Dominant religion is Islam but a lot of churches are emerging in recent times. Walewale prides itself of four standard banks which are; Ghana Commercial Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Bangmarigu Community Bank and GN Bank which is currently defunct. The town has about ten standard guest houses with two five star hotels located along the main road leading to Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital. There are six fuel filling stations in the community namely; Total Fuel Station, Nasona Fuel Station, Zen Fuel Station, Goil Fuel Station and Petrosol, It also has a Gas filling station located along the Nalerigu road.
