Biography

Tomaselli began her professional career in Fórmula Junior Brasil, a category comparable to Formula Ford in other countries. [5] Following two seasons there, she would move up to Fórmula 4 Sudamericana, run to Formula Renault 1.6 regulations – where she finished fourth in her second season. [6] [7]

She moved to the United States in 2017, joining the Road to Indy through the U.S. F2000 National Championship. [8] She undertook a part-time campaign initially, and signed with Team Pelfrey for a full-time campaign in 2018 – finishing 16th in the standings. [9] Tomaselli remained in U.S. F2000 in 2019, moving to Pabst Racing Services – improving to 8th overall with a top-five finish at Mid-Ohio. [10] [11]

The Brazilian driver attempted to qualify for the W Series, a Formula 3 championship for female drivers, in 2019 but failed to pass the evaluation day for potential recruits. [12] She attempted to join the championship again for 2020, and would successfully join the 20-driver field. [13] Following the cancellation of the 2020 season, Tomaselli competed in the 2021 W Series driving for Veloce Racing, alongside eventual champion Jamie Chadwick. She managed two top-ten finishes in eight rounds, with 12 points overall, finishing 15th in the Drivers' Championship. [14] She was retained for the 2022 season, which she began with another top-five finish in the first race in Miami; afterwards she could only manage one point in the remaining six races and finished 12th in the championship after it was curtailed due to financial problems. [15]

Tomaselli returned to Brazil in 2023, competing in second-tier domestic stock cars. She finished 8th overall in her début season with three top-five finishes. [16] She remained in the championship for 2024, scoring a podium at Cascavel before being parachuted into the top-flight for the final round after Marcos Gomes suffered a medical episode. [17] [4]

Rookie Australian/American driver Matthew Brabham, son of Geoff Brabham, captured the title over is Cape Motosports teammate, second-year American Spencer Pigot by seven points in the final pair of races at Virginia International Raceway. Even though Pigot won the final two races of the season, Brabham's lead was large enough and his finishes in the final two races were high enough to capture the championship. Brabham only won four races compared to Pigot's eight wins. However, Brabham only failed to finish in the top-10 once with a single DNF while Pigot finished outside the top-10 three times in what would ultimately decide the championship. The only other driver to capture a race win during the season was Belardi Auto Racing's Scott Anderson.
