The Bulgarian National Road Race Championships are held annually to decide the cycling champions in the road race discipline, across various categories. The championship was first held in 2000.
The UCI Road World Championships Elite Women's Road Race is a one-day event for professional cyclists that takes place annually. The winner is considered the World Cycling Champion and earns the right to wear the Rainbow Jersey for a full year in road race or stage events. The event is a single 'mass start' road race with the winner being the first across the line at the completion of the full race distance. The road race is contested by riders organized by national cycling teams as opposed to commercially sponsored or trade teams, which is the standard in professional cycling.

The Australian National Road Race Championships, are held annually with an event for each category of bicycle rider: Men, Women & under 23 riders. The event also includes the Australian National Time Trial Championships since 2002. The Australian Championships were officially known as the Scody Australian Open Road Cycling Championships from 1999 to 2010, taking the name of their main sponsor. This changed to the Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championships from 2011 but they are more commonly referred to as The Nationals. The under 23 championships were introduced in 2001. Note that these results do not currently include the senior and junior amateur road race championships that were held prior to the open era.
The United States National Time Trial Championships are held annually to decide the American champions in this cycling discipline, across various age and gender categories. Originally, in 1975, the time trial event distance was 25 miles. It later changed to 40 km, and still later changed to the current distance of 32.3 kilometers.
The Irish National Cycling Championships are annual cycling races to decide the Irish cycling champion for several disciplines, across several categories of rider.
The 2011 UCI Road World Championships took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, over 19–25 September 2011. The event consisted of a cycling road race and a time trial for men, women, men under 23, and for the first time since 2004 the junior men and junior women competed at the same event as the elite riders. It was the 78th running of the Road World Championships. Castelfidardo near Loreto in Italy was also a candidate, but Italy held the UCI Road World Championships in Varese in 2008. It was the first time that Denmark has hosted the event since 1956, when it was also held in Copenhagen.
The 2006 World University Cycling Championship is the 4th Word University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Cycling made his comeback after a 16-year absence as a university sport. The championship took place in Antwerp and Herentals, Belgium from March 22 to March 26, 2006. The city of Herentals is located in the geographic region of Campine, which is well known for cyclo-cross. The championship included 119 athletes and 54 officials from 17 countries. Athletes contested in a cyclo-cross race for men and four road cycling disciplines: a road race and an individual time trial for both men and women.
The 2007 European Road Championships were held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 19–22 July 2007. Regulated by the European Cycling Union, the event consisted of a road race and a time trial for men and women under-23 and juniors.
The 2008 World University Cycling Championship is the 5th Word University Cycling Championship sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The championship took place in Nijmegen, Netherlands, from 21 to 25 May 2008. Prague and Bangkok were also candidate cities to organize the championship. The NOC*NSF chairman Erica Terpstra opened he World Championships at the opening ceremony on 21 May. Athletes from 25 countries competed in the disciplines mountain bike cross-country, mountain bike marathon, individual time trial and road race. It was the first time in student sports that there was held a World Championship Mountain Biking.
Evgeniy Balev Gerganov is a Bulgarian former professional road cyclist. He represented his nation Bulgaria at the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Alistair Donohoe is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for Australian club team Blackburn CC. Following a right arm impairment in 2009, Donohoe became a multiple medallist at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships and UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships. He won two silver medals at the 2016 Summer Paralympics and a silver and bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Kyle Ivan Bridgwood is an Australian Para cyclist from South Africa. He won silver medals in the Men's Individual Pursuit C4 and Men's Road Time Trial C4 at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
