History

After more than 20 years broadcasting in the Northeast Italy under the name Serenissima TV, in 2004 it acquired UHF channels from France 2 relay Telecentrotoscana that allowed the station to be seen in the whole northern Italy. [1] After acquiring other channels to cover Rome, Serenissima TV became Canale Italia.

Canale Italia then expanded in the following years, being broadcast in syndication in some regions and acquiring new channels in others. On November 4, 2009, Canale Italia acquired all the channels of Perugia based station RTE 24H that covered Umbria and Tuscany alongside portions of Lazio and Marche.

In 2012, Canale Italia signed a deal to distribute France 24's in Italy through its channel 141. [2] In 2015, Canale Italia acquired Tivuitalia. [3]

In March 2023, Canale Italia was fined for broadcasting ads of erotic hotlines, which is absolutely forbidden for all one- and two-digit channels in Italia. [4]

Aspire TV was an Australian advertorial datacasting channel launched on 21 May 2013, owned by Southern Cross Austereo and Brand Developers, as a result of SCA bundling and discounting its television and radio advertising rates. The channel operated a full-time format of mostly US produced paid programming and, to a lesser extent, other paid program content including religious programming. Though datacasting was intended by the Labor government of the time to broadcast telecourses and other non-commercial content, without any legislative restriction on its use, most Australian broadcasters have utilized the datacasting services for teleshopping instead. For the most part however, the general public has ignored these datacasting teleshopping channels, resulting in their swift discontinuation.

In radio, this is sometimes referred to as "full-format programming" or full-service radio.
