Doubs is a department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of eastern France named after the Doubs River.

The arrondissement of Belfort is an arrondissement in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. It is the only arrondissement located in the Territoire de Belfort department. It has 9 cantons and 102 communes.
The Allaine is a 65 km long river in northwestern Switzerland and eastern France. Its source is above the village Charmoille, in the Swiss Jura mountains. Downstream from its confluence with the Bourbeuse and the Canal du Rhône au Rhin, near Méziré, it is called the Allan. It is a right tributary of the Doubs, which it joins a few km downstream from Montbéliard, where it takes the Savoureuse with it, a river with its sources in the southern Vosges.
The fortified region of Belfort(place fortifiée de Belfort) formed the first line of defense in the Séré de Rivières system of fortifications in the Belfort Gap. Located in northeastern France between Épinal and Besançon, the primary line was built in the late 19th century to deal with advances in artillery that had made older defensive systems obsolete.
Territoire de Belfort's 1st constituency is one of two French legislative constituencies in the department of Territoire de Belfort. It is currently represented by Ian Boucard of The Republicans (LR).

The first round of a by-election was held in Territoire de Belfort's 1st constituency on 28 January 2018, with a second round on 4 February because no candidate secured a majority of votes in the first round. The by-election was called due to the invalidation of the election of Ian Boucard, candidate of The Republicans (LR), in the June 2017 legislative elections by the Constitutional Council on 8 December 2017, due to the distribution of misleading electoral leaflets by Boucard's campaign between the two rounds.
Ian Boucard is a French politician who served as deputy for Territoire de Belfort's 1st constituency from June to December 2017, with the invalidation of his election triggering a by-election in early 2018 in which he was re-elected. He is a member of The Republicans.
