Carman Township is one of eleven townships in Henderson County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2020 census, its population was 227 and it contained 203 housing units. [1]

According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Carman Township has a total area of 26.36 square miles (68.27 km2), of which 21.95 square miles (56.85 km2) (or 83.29%) is land and 4.40 square miles (11.40 km2) (or 16.71%) is water. [2]

As of the 2020 census [1] there were 227 people, 160 households, and 135 families residing in the township. The population density was 8.61 inhabitants per square mile (3.32/km2). There were 203 housing units at an average density of 7.70 per square mile (2.97/km2). The racial makeup of the township was 96.92% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 2.64% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.20% of the population.

There were 160 households, out of which none had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.00% were married couples living together, 13.75% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 15.63% were non-families. 15.60% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.40% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.88 and the average family size was 2.04.

The township's age distribution consisted of 0.0% under the age of 18, 0.0% from 18 to 24, 6% from 25 to 44, 65.9% from 45 to 64, and 28.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 64.2 years. For every 100 females, there were 125.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 125.6 males.
