Casablanca Film Factory is an Indian film production, distribution and public relations company based in the South Indian film industry. [1] [2] It was founded by film director Nirmal Baby Varghese in 2016. [3]

History

In 2016, Nirmal started his company Casablanca Film Factory to produce his two short films, Mirror of Reality and Mattam the Change , which were later released on Amazon Prime Video in 2020. [4] [5] [6] Their next film Thariode, a historical documentary film about gold mining in Thariyode. The film found critical acclaim in the festival circuit and won many awards including Kerala State Television Award. [7] [8]

Company made their first feature debut film with Vazhiye , which is the first found footage movie in the Malayalam language. [9] [10] [11] The film marked the debut of Hollywood music director Evan Evans in Indian cinema. [12] [13] [14] [15]

As a digital distributor, Casablanca Film Factory have worked for several movies. [16]

Activities

Casablanca Film Factory organises the Casablanca Film Factory Awards , Casablanca Film Factory Horror Film Festival , Casablanca Independent Film Fest and Vazhiye Indie Film Fest . [1] [17] [18] [19]

Since 2022, Casablanca Film Factory organises the Casablanca Film Factory Awards for independent filmmakers across the globe. [20] Larry Hankin, Lorelei Linklater, Siân Reeves, Paul Spurrier, S. P. Somtow and Dmitrii Frolov are some of the winners of the first edition of this festival. [1]

Team Casablanca Film Factory started Casablanca Film Factory Horror Film Festival for promoting indie horror movies world wide since 2022. [17]

In 2024, the company started Casablanca Independent Film Fest for international independent movies. [21] Dutch filmmaker, Robin de Levita's Lost Cos was the Best Film for the Casablanca Independent Film Fest 2024. [18]

After the success of their indie movie Vazhiye team Casablanca Film Factory started Vazhiye Indie Film Fest, which showcases independent movies and support independent filmmakers from around the world. [19]
