Cavedine (German : Kavedein) is a comune (municipality) in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 14 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Trento. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,799 and an area of 38.3 square kilometres (14.8 sq mi). [1]

Trentino, officially the Autonomous Province of Trento, is an autonomous province of Italy, in the country's far north. Trento and South Tyrol constitute the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, an autonomous region under the constitution. The province is divided into 177 comuni (municipalities). Its capital is the city of Trento. The province covers an area of more than 6,000 km2 (2,300 sq mi), with a total population of about 540,000. Trentino is renowned for its mountains, such as the Dolomites, which are part of the Alps.

The municipality of Cavedine contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Brusino, Cavedine, Stravino, Vigo Cavedine and Lago di Cavedine.
"Frazione" is the Italian name given in administrative law to a type of territorial subdivision of a comune; for other administrative divisions, see municipio, circoscrizione, quartiere. It is cognate to the English word fraction, but in practice is roughly equivalent to "parishes" or "wards" in other countries.
Cavedine borders the following municipalities: Trento, Lasino, Dro, Cimone, Villa Lagarina and Drena.

In the 16th century, the city was the location of the Council of Trent. Formerly part of Austria and Austria-Hungary, it was annexed by Italy in 1919. Lasino was a comune (municipality) in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 12 kilometres (7 mi) southwest of Trento. As of 31 December 2007, it had a population of 1,298 and an area of 16.0 square kilometres (6.2 sq mi). It was merged with Calavino to form a new municipality, Madruzzo.
Dro is a town and comune in Trentino in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol. It sits in the deep Sarca river valley, and as of the 2004 census Dro had a population of 3,388. Dro is divided in two frazioni, Pietramurata and Ceniga.
