Celaenoteuthis is a genus of muensterellid stem-octopod from southern Germany. [1] It is monotypic, with only type species C. incerta known. [2]
The Octopodidae comprise the family containing the majority of known octopus species.
William Shapleigh Damrell was a member of the United States House of Representatives from Massachusetts.
Adolf Naef was a Swiss zoologist and palaeontologist who worked on cephalopods and systematics. Although he struggled with academic politics throughout his career and difficult conditions during World War I and II, his work had lasting influences on the fields of phylogenetics, morphology, and embryology.

Palaeoctopus is an extinct genus of octopuses that lived during the Late Cretaceous. It contains one valid species, P. newboldi, which has been found in Lebanon.
1906 Naef is a stony vestoid asteroid from the inner regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 7 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 5 September 1972, by Swiss astronomer Paul Wild at Zimmerwald Observatory near Bern, Switzerland. It was later named after Swiss banker and amateur astronomer Robert A. Naef.
HD 100777 b, formally named Laligurans, is an extrasolar planet located approximately 172 light-years away in the constellation of Leo, orbiting the star HD 100777. This is a >1.17 MJ planet taking 33.15 Ms to orbit at 154.1 Gm or 4.99 μpc from the star at 36% eccentricity. The velocity of the orbit is 29.3 km/s. Dominique Naef discovered this planet in March 2007 by using HARPS spectrograph located in Chile.
HD 221287 b, also known as Pipitea, is an exoplanet that orbits HD 221287, approximately 173 light years away in the constellation of Tucana. This planet has mass >3.12 MJ and orbits in a habitable zone at 1.25 AUs from the star, taking 1.25 years to orbit at 29.9 km/s around the star. Dominique Naef discovered this planet in early 2007 by using HARPS spectrograph located in Chile.

Observatory Robert A. Naef is an astronomical observatory located at Épendes, Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland at 7.13938 degrees east of Greenwich and 46.76236 degrees north latitude. Its parallax constants are : ρ sin φ' = 0.68632 and ρ cos φ' = +0.72501.
Leonhard Euler Telescope, or the Swiss EULER Telescope, is a national, fully automatic 1.2-metre (47 in) reflecting telescope, built and operated by the Geneva Observatory. It is located at an altitude of 2,375 m (7,792 ft) at ESO's La Silla Observatory site in the Chilean Norte Chico region, about 460 kilometers north of Santiago de Chile. The telescope, which saw its first light on 12 April 1998, is named after Swiss mathematician Leonhard Paul Euler.
HD 156411 is a 7th magnitude G-type main-sequence star located approximately 186 light years away in the southern constellation Ara. This star is larger, hotter, brighter, and more massive than the Sun. Its metal content is three-fourths as much as the Sun. The star is around 4.3 billion years old and is spinning with a projected rotational velocity of 1.8 km/s. Naef and associates (2010) noted the star appears to be slightly evolved, and thus may be in the process of leaving the main sequence. In 2009, a gas giant planet was found in orbit around the star.
Fritz Naef was a Swiss former ice hockey player who competed for the Swiss national team at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The North American Ensemble Forecast System (NAEFS) is a joint project involving the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC) in Canada, the National Weather Service (NWS) in the United States, and the National Meteorological Service of Mexico (NMSM) in Mexico providing numerical weather prediction ensemble guidance for the 1- to 16-day forecast period. The NAEFS combines the Canadian MSC and the US NWS global ensemble prediction systems, improving probabilistic operational guidance over what can be built from any individual country's ensemble. Model guidance from the NAEFS is incorporated into the forecasts of the respective national agencies.
The Martyrdom of Saint Symphorian is an 1834 painting by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. It shows the death of Saint Symphorian, the first Christian martyr in Gaul. Painted in oil on canvas and measuring 407 x 339 cm, it is now in Autun Cathedral. Although Ingres considered the painting—completed only after ten years of diligent work—one of his crowning achievements, it was criticized harshly when he exhibited it in the Paris Salon of 1834. It subsequently has been considered emblematic of Ingres' misguided ambition to excel as a history painter.
Oedipus and the Sphinx is a painting by the French Neoclassical artist Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. Originally a student work painted in 1808, it was enlarged and completed in 1827. The painting depicts Oedipus explaining the riddle of the Sphinx. An oil painting on canvas, it measures 189 x 144 cm, and is in the Louvre, which acquired it in 1878.
