Vishal–Shekhar are an Indian music composition, production, singing, and songwriting duo consisting of Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani from Mumbai. Known predominantly for their work as music composers in Hindi cinema, Vishal–Shekhar have also recorded in Telugu, Tamil and Marathi with the likes of Akon, The Vamps, Imogen Heap and Diplo. They have been streamed over 3 billion times on YouTube, have had 72 number-one singles, and have been featured on over 350 film sound tracks. They are one of the most successful music composers in the history of Bollywood music.

Agneepath is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language action crime film produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar under Dharma Productions and directed by Karan Malhotra in his directorial debut. A remake of the 1990 film of the same name directed by Mukul S. Anand and starring Amitabh Bachchan, it centers on a screenplay written by Malhotra and Ila Dutta Bedi, with dialogues written by Piyush Mishra. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Kanika Tiwari, Om Puri and Zarina Wahab. Similar to the original, the story follows Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, a common man from the island village of Mandwa who seeks revenge for his father's humiliation and murder at the hands of Kancha Cheena ; in the process, he befriends Rauf Lala, an underworld gangster, and falls in love with a loquacious girl, Kaali Gawde.

The music was composed by the duo Ajay–Atul, and features the songs "Kombadi Palali" and "Ye Go Ye Ye Maina", the melodies of which were repurposed for "Chikni Chameli" and "Mera Naam Mary Hai" from the Hindi films Agneepath and Brothers respectively; both films were remakes directed by Karan Malhotra for Dharma Productions.

The 2nd Mirchi Music Awards, presented by the Radio Mirchi, honoured the best of Hindi music from the year 2009. The ceremony was held on 10 February 2010 at the Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. There were many performances, including those by KK, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rekha Bhardwaj, Himesh Reshammiya, Usha Uthup, Shahid Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. A non-film category award was included for the first time. Delhi-6 won a leading eight awards including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for "Masakali". The show was broadcast on 21 February 2010 on Sony TV.
