Nobska Light, originally called Nobsque Light, also known as Nobska Point Light is a lighthouse located near the division between Buzzards Bay, Nantucket Sound, and Vineyard Sound in the settlement of Woods Hole, Massachusetts on the southwestern tip of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It overlooks Martha's Vineyard and Nonamesset Island. The light station was established in 1828, with the tower protruding above the keeper's house, and was replaced in 1876 by the current 42 foot tall iron tower. The light station was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Nobska Point Light Station in 1987.

Joshua James was an American sea captain and a U.S. Life–Saving Station keeper. He was a famous and celebrated commander of civilian life-saving crews in the 19th century, credited with saving over 500 lives from the age of about 15 when he first associated himself with the Massachusetts Humane Society until his death at the age of 75 while on duty with the United States Life–Saving Service. During his lifetime he was honored with the highest medals of the Humane Society and the United States. His father, mother, brothers, wife, and son were also lifesavers in their own right.

Point Allerton Lifesaving Station is a historic building of the United States Life-Saving Service at 1117 Nantasket Avenue in Hull, Massachusetts. The service was eventually merged with the Revenue Cutter Service to form the United States Coast Guard. The Queen Anne style station was built in 1889 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. It is a minimally-decorated building, scaled to fit into the surrounding residential area. Its first commander was Hull native Joshua James, whose heroic career in lifesaving is detailed in the museum. Keeper William Sparrow commanded the station through its transition to the United States Coast Guard in 1915.
Hospital Point Range Front Light is a historic lighthouse at the end of Bayview Avenue in Beverly, Massachusetts. It forms the front half of a range which guides vessels toward Salem Harbor. The tower was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Hospital Point Light Station on September 28, 1987.

Coast Guard Aviation Station Ten Pound Island was a United States Coast Guard air station located in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It was established in 1925, initially to use seaplanes to spot rumrunners during Prohibition. In its first four years of operation, aircraft and personnel from the air station rendered assistance to stranded mariners and other persons on 212 occasions. Aircraft operated from the facility included the Vought UO-1 and UO-4, OL-5, and Grumman JF-2. As larger aircraft such as the General Aviation PJ-1 were developed, the facility became obsolete. It was replaced by Coast Guard Air Station Salem in 1935. As of 2008 there were no remains of the air station on the island, though the Ten Pound Island Light remains active.

The Nahant Life-Saving Station is a historic coastal rescue station in Nahant, Massachusetts. The station, which consists of a residence and an equipment building, was established in 1900 by the United States Life-Saving Service before being taken over by the United States Coast Guard in 1915. The station was discontinued in 1964, and the facilities were converted recreational use by the Coast Guard. In 1999 the 1.4 acres (0.57 ha) parcel was turned over to the Town of Nahant. The station, one of twelve such surviving facilities in the state, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
The Harbor Defenses of Boston was a United States Army Coast Artillery Corps harbor defense command. It coordinated the coast defenses of Boston, Massachusetts from 1895 to 1950, beginning with the Endicott program. These included both coast artillery forts and underwater minefields. The command originated circa 1895 as the Boston Artillery District, was renamed Coast Defenses of Boston in 1913, and again renamed Harbor Defenses of Boston in 1925.
