Courier Crisis is an action video game developed by American studio New Level Software for PlayStation and Sega Saturn in 1997.
Publisher BMG Interactive closed down its U.S. operations in mid-1997, [3] and sold the U.S. publication rights for Courier Crisis to GT Interactive. [4]
The player is given a set amount of time to deliver a set amount of packages. Money can be earned to buy new bikes.
The game was originally scheduled to release in October 1997 for both PlayStation and Saturn. [5] In June 1997, GT Interactive acquired the North American publishing rights to the game. [6] [7]

Courier Crisis was almost universally reviled by critics. The PlayStation version held a score of 54% on the review aggregation website GameRankings based on five reviews, even with an outlier of 89.5. [8] Critics generally remarked that while the game's premise is fresh and promising, the execution is poor on nearly every front, bemoaning everything from rough graphics which hearken back to the PlayStation and Saturn's launch window titles, [10] [13] [15] [16] [17] [19] [20] to voice clips which repeat frequently enough to be a serious annoyance, [10] [16] [20] to frustrating, poorly responsive controls. [10] [15] [16] [17] [19] Next Generation elaborated that "The bike handles terribly, responding to turns as if it were being ridden through sand. There's a quick-turn button, but this turns the bicycle so sharply that players inevitably end up stuck facing the wall." The reviewer also opined that the game's concept would have worked better as a bonus stage in a broader delivery game than as a standalone game. [17] GameSpot summed it up as "A fantastic concept with endless possibility, but one that was executed so poorly here, even the most radical bunny-hop couldn't save the resultant product." [15]
Most critics remarked that the game offers fleeting moments of fun, but soon becomes dull due to the repetitive level designs and lack of variety in the objectives. [10] [15] [16] [19] The four reviewers of Electronic Gaming Monthly also noted Courier Crisis has a sharp difficulty slope, being boringly easy for the first four stages before a spike in challenge in stage five. Dan Hsu enjoyed the challenge of the later stages, saying it requires the player to learn bike tricks to progress, but suspected that many players would give up on the game before reaching this point, while co-reviewer Crispin Boyer felt that the early stages and later stages represent two unpleasant extremes. [10] Several critics also found the music terrible, [10] [16] [19] though GamePro called it "rousing". However, GamePro also cited draw distance problems which make it unreasonably difficult to avoid hazards. [lower-alpha 2] [20] Other technical issues cited in reviews include slowdown, [16] inaccurate collision detection, [13] [19] and a choppy frame rate. [10] [15] [16]
The British Sega Saturn Magazine called Courier Crisis "the worst Saturn game we've received this year by some considerable way", and rebuked Sega of Europe for their decision to localize the game while passing on acclaimed overseas Saturn releases such as Grandia , Dead or Alive , and Vampire Savior . [19] In Japan, where the PlayStation version was localized and published by BMG Interactive on February 19, 1998, followed by the Saturn version on March 26, 1998, Famitsu gave it a score of 25 out of 40 for the latter, [11] and 23 out of 40 for the former. [12]

Thunder Force V is a 1997 Japanese side-scrolling shooter video game developed by Technosoft for the Sega Saturn. It is the fifth game in the Thunder Force series. Unlike previous games in the series, Thunder Force V uses polygons to model the larger enemy ships and some of the scenery, in addition to sprites. In 1998, Thunder Force V was ported to the PlayStation as Thunder Force V: Perfect System.
City Crisis is a helicopter simulation developed by Syscom Entertainment, and published by Take-Two Interactive for the PlayStation 2. The players role in the game is a rescue helicopter pilot. The object of the game is to save civilians from fires that spring up around the city. The player must also put out the fires using water that is dumped from the helicopter. Each mission has a time limit, but the faster the player saves people and puts out fires, the more time they receive to complete the next part of the mission. The game also features missions where a criminal is driving around the city, and the player must use their searchlight to help the police locate and stop them.

Sky Target is a 1995 arcade game by Sega. A rail shooter featuring a number of planes including the default F-14D Super Tomcat, it is best remembered for its semi-official connection to Sega's earlier hit After Burner. Although never billed as a sequel, its overt similarities to the 1987 classic were nonetheless referenced in official promotional materials and recognized by the media. Plus, it features a revised version of the "After Burner" music theme within its soundtrack.

Mega Man X4, originally released in Japan as Rockman X4 (ロックマンX4), is an action-platform game developed by Capcom. It is the fourth game in the Mega Man X series and the second game in the series to be released on the Sega Saturn and PlayStation. The two versions were released simultaneously in Japan in 1997. A North America release followed sometime thereafter, while Europe received only the PlayStation version in 1997. Mega Man X4 allows the player to choose between the two mechanoid "Reploids" protagonists at the beginning of the game: X, who uses traditional, long-range attacks; or Zero, who wields a short-range sword.

NBA Fastbreak '98 is a basketball simulator released for the Sony PlayStation in 1997. It takes place during the 1997-98 National Basketball Association season. It was published by Midway Games and GT Interactive. Originally announced under the title "Hardwood Heroes", the game was released with minimal changes as NBA Action 98 on Sega Saturn and Microsoft Windows, published by Sega. Another version was being developed by Z-Axis for the Nintendo 64 under the title "NBA Fast Break 64", with a prospective November 1997 release, but it was cancelled.

Winter Heat is a sports video game developed by Sega AM3 and published by Sega for arcades in 1997, and for the Sega Saturn in 1998, featuring the license for the 1998 Winter Olympics that were celebrated in Nagano, Japan. It is the sequel to the 1996 Sega game DecAthlete. Winter Heat was released on the PlayStation 2 in Japan as part of the DecAthlete Collection with DecAthlete and Virtua Athlete. The collection is the 15th volume of the Sega Ages 2500 series.
NHL Powerplay 98 is a sports video game developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Virgin Interactive and Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn in 1997. It is the sequel to NHL Powerplay '96; there was no "'97" entry in the NHL Powerplay series. After Virgin opted not to release the game for the Sega Saturn, Sega acquired the rights and published the Saturn version under the title NHL All-Star Hockey 98 so as to make it a continuation of Sega's own NHL All-Star Hockey series.
