Olivia Dalila Rugama Carmona (born April 9, 1984, in Managua) is Nicaraguan javelin thrower. [1] She represented her nation Nicaragua at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and also registered her own national record of 55.28 metres in the women's javelin throw at the 2007 Bolivarian Games in Caracas, Venezuela. [2] [3] Throughout her career, Rugama was part of the team of the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua's track and field squad. [4]

Rugama qualified for the Nicaraguan squad in the women's javelin throw at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by granting an invitation from the Nicaraguan Olympic Committee (Spanish : Comité Olímpico Nicaragüense) and the IAAF under the Universality rule with an entry mark of 53.23. [2] [5] Rugama threw a javelin with a satisfying distance of 51.42 metres on her second attempt in the prelims, but her effort was not sufficient to compete for the final round with a fortieth-place finish. [6] [7]

Dalila Rugama has won in 4 times (2001, 2006, 2013 and 2017) the Women's Javelin Throw and 1 time (2006) the Women's Shot Put in the Central American Games. Similarly won in 12 times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018) the Women's Javelin Throw and 1 time (2018) the Women's Shot Put in the Central American Championships in Athletics.

Dalila Rugama is the best in the Women's Javelin Throw in the history of Central American.

The 2005 Central American Junior and Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio de Atletismo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes in Managua, Nicaragua, between May 21–22, 2005. Organized by the Central American Isthmus Athletic Confederation (CADICA), it was the 18th edition of the Junior (U-20) and the 13th edition of the Youth (U-18) competition. A total of 80 events were contested, 40 by boys and 40 by girls. Overall winner on points was  Costa Rica.

The 24th Central American Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio de Atletismo del Instituto Nicaragüense de Deportes in Managua, Nicaragua, between June 21–23, 2013.

Peter Zupanc is a retired Slovenian javelin thrower. He represented Slovenia at the 2004 Summer Olympics, and also recorded his own personal best of 78.60 metres from the Slovenian Championships in his native Ljubljana. Throughout his sporting career, Zupanc trained for Kronos Athletics Association.

David Brisseault is a retired French javelin thrower. Aged thirty-five, he became one of the oldest athletes to be selected on the French athletics team for the 2004 Summer Olympics after recording a personal best of 82.20 metres from the track and field meet organized by his club Nice Côte d'Azur Athlétisme in his native Nice.

Aneliya Kumanova is a retired Bulgarian shot putter and hammer thrower. Representing her nation Bulgaria in two editions of the Olympic Games, Kumanova initiated her athletics career as a hammer throw specialist, before turning sights extensively on the shot put event. In 2000, Kumanova demolished a Bulgarian record at 65.35 metres in the hammer throw from the European Cup Series in Sofia, and then attained her own personal best of 18.38 in the shot put at the same tournament three years later. Throughout her athletics career, Kumanova trained for the sport club Levski-Spartak Club in Petrich under her personal coach Kharalampi Georgiev.

Olga Shchukina is a retired Uzbek shot putter. Shchukina was selected to the Uzbek Olympic squad in the shot put at the 2004 Summer Olympics, but her feat had been outweighed with a doping failure for testing positive on clenbuterol during the pre-competition screening, which resulted to her immediate expulsion from the Games. During her athletic career, Shchukina launched her personal best shot of 17.26 at the 2004 Asian Cup League Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Olga Núñez Abaunza was the first female Nicaraguan lawyer and first female notary. She was the first woman to serve in a Ministerial capacity and the First woman Deputy to serve in the National Assembly of Nicaragua. She was an ardent feminist, attending feminist conferences, forming a feminine wing of the liberal party, and running for office on a feminist platform.

Panama sent a delegation to compete at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 7–18 September 2016. This was the nation's seventh time competing in the Summer Paralympic Games after it first entered the movement at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. The Panamanian delegation to Rio de Janeiro consisted of two athletes: shot put thrower Francisco Cedeño Almengor and javelin thrower Iveth Valdes Romero. Almengor ranked eleventh out of twelve athletes in the men's shot put F54–55 competition and Romero placed in the same position in the women's javelin F55–F56 event.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Mary Coco Maltez de Callejas</span>

Mary Coco Maltez de Callejas was a Nicaraguan feminist, teacher and politician of the Somozista Nationalist Liberal Party. She was a founding member of both the Union of American Women and Ala Femenina, serving as the vice president of the latter organization from its founding in 1955 to 1971, when she became President. She was one of the first three women to run for and be elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1957. After her initial election, she served in the National Assembly until 1979. Between 1969 and 1979, she served as the Minister of Education. In her latter years, she participated in the Alliance of Pan American Round Tables.
